And he looks great why would try to stash him on the PS?

Every team has their version on DJackson

IF he looks great in training camp and preseason, then maybe you carry him as the 4th RB, but you don't jettison any of your veteran RB's unless he actually IS better than them. If he shows potential, but as a rookie is not going to surpass DMC or Morris, then you stash him on PS because DMC won't be back next season.

Doesn't have to be that way.

Thoughts: I'm not sure if it is poor vision or that godawful blocking he was getting but it's not pretty. His QB is terrible. Very quick and fast.

He looks little.....I bet he doesn't make the roster unless he stands out tackling people on ST.

So 215 selections in the draft passed where any team could have selected him, but you think if we cut him at the end of preseason and try to put him on the PS, other teams will sign him to a guaranteed spot on their every week 53 man roster? After they've spent all off season, training camp, and preseason acclimating their players to their system and whittling it down to 53 guys who can actually contribute, they'll cut one of them to sign the 216th pick in the draft to their 53 man roster when he doesn't know their system or playbook?

I don't see that happening at all, not unless he literally explodes in preseason and looks like a pro-bowler.

Same thing happened to Tom Brady and Tony Romo but hey it never happens

"Ran" is probably a strong word. Lightly jogged though patterns would likely be more accurate.

Always a half empty glass huh. That is nothing but spin with absolutely nothing to support your characterization.

This clip against LSU was a good watch:

Nice clip with LSU. Bet our guys were watching LSU and thought, whose that guy.

Looks to have some speed to the outside, but liked how he found small spaces in the middle to run. Interesting prospect

Spin? Dunbar is coming off a major injury.

So how was he running routes? Full speed, half speed? Please let everyone know.

There's a thread from this: http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/fo...ce-dunbar-able-to-run-routes-during-minicamp/

Although he wasn't a participant during Tuesday's minincamp, Dunbar(knee) was able to run routes on the side, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports.

That's encouraging news for the scatback, but the Cowboys likely won't know until training camp begins whether Dunbar has a shot at being ready for Week 1. Even if he is far enough along in his recovery from a torn ACL to avoid the PUP list, his role could be a lot smaller this season with fourth overall pick Ezekiel Elliott expected to become the team's new three-down back, lessening the need for a passing-down specialist like Dunbar in the offense.

You seemed to know he was lightly jogging although it was reported as running routes. He may not be running routes full tilt but most would reasonably assume he was running them and not lightly jogging thru them. I found it interesting you characterized them differently and made the observation you have a pattern of looking at things pessimistically.

Am I mistaken?

Given his injuries, I would consider him a freak of nature if he was "running them". You do realize the term run routes does not necessarily mean he is cutting and testing and doing the football movements necessary to make them effective, right?

No I read it as running routes. His injuries of the MCL and ACL are not of concern to me now. 97+% of NFL players recover from them long term. I have concerns about his patellar tendon injury but if he's already running then that is a good sign for that.

I never characterized his running routes and tried to put them in a pigeon hole of lightly jogging them, running half speed, not cutting hard, etc. I merely reported was has been reported and you have taken the most pessimistic view of it including the need of defending your viewpoint.

Alright then. I will take my dark cloud away and allow the rays of sunshine to emerge so none of the children become sad and gloomy.

I can tell you this, if he was running routes at a pace that was even close to camp-ready, this would be a minor miracle and I think you secretly agree with me.

They didn't speculate as to him being camp ready nor when. It sounds encouraging is as far as I will go. Once again, I have concerns about his patellar tendon. This is one injury which may recur so I'm not going to speculate about him being out of the woods until he plays enough games to satisfy me.

I keep reading that some folks think McFadden is the odd man out.

I just don't see it. At least, it doesn't make sense. Outside of presumably Elliott, a healthy McFadden (yes, enter joke here...) is the most complete back on the roster. Morris is one-dimensional and I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Dunbar to come back. I think some folks have forgotten that despite limited use early in the season, McFadden caught 40 balls out of the backfield; he adequately fits the pass-catching role that Morris can't (or never has demonstrated).
