Opinions on whether we re-sign either Canty, Burnett,

Z Thomas, or K Davis?

I'm thinking at this stage that both Canty and Burnett will likely not return (at the very least they will test FA).

I also don't think Z Thomas returns. Think Wade will try to go a bit bigger at that position. I like Z Thomas as a player, but I'm not sure he's best suited for Wade's version of the 34.

I think K Davis may return to help fill the STs void.

Other that Ware's contract negotiations, I haven't heard anything regarding the above players and potential contract negotiations (other than Canty's agent wants crazy money), so this is purely a guess on my part.

Opinions?

I would like Canty and KB back but if I had to pick between the two I guess I would go with KB strictly based on price talk.

Depends on money. If they will resign cheap, do it. Otherwise, let them walk.

They are just JAGs, no big loss if they walk.

If we let Canty and Tank walk, I think we'll need to get 2 DL going into next season, and one of them will probably have to be a starter.

Also, I think if we let Burnett and Z Thomas go, and possibly Carp, we'll have to get 2 more ILBs this off-season as well, and 1 of them will have to be a starter.

If so, I hope we pick up one decent ILB via FA at the very least. That way, it puts less pressure on us going into the Draft.

I think we're only about 3 players away from potentially being an elite defense.

I think we really need a top flight Safety (via the Draft most likely), and if we could pick up one solid ILB and a big NT to help collapse the OL, I think we're there.

I don't care how high the Dolphins are on Canty, I don't think he's that good. Especially 50 million dollar good.

With Burnett, I used to believe it was a matter of him staying healthy, now I just think he's another big-mouthed underachiever.

Out of that group, we really need to find a way to keep Miles Austin and possibly Bowen.
I dont want to see Canty leave, but his agent is already asking crazy money and I dont see how we can get Wares' deal done and still be in a position to satisfy Cantys' lofty expectations.

Burnett is the interesting one.
A second rounder that has never truly blossomed into the ILB this defense can depend upon in a starting role.
A nice presence in the nickle packages but that is falling short of what a second rounders contributions should be.
Depends on the money, always does, so I guess we take and wait and see on Canty and Burnett, and let them set their price in the market.
Maybe we can retain one of them if the price is right.

I wouldnt mind signing Igor Olvalanski from the Chargers. He is a FA and knows Wade's system and shouldnt break the bank.

I really dont see us doing much in free agency once Ware signs his deal. Most of our holes are going to have to be filled through the draft.

Good thing we have 11 picks!!!

The debate on Canty answers the draft day question on wether we got a steal or not. Most thought we did steal him in the 4th because he had 1st round talent. Now at the end of his rookie contract we debate to resign him or let him walk. Clearly he has underachieved in most peoples eyes. He might not be considered a bust but he sure wasn't anything special.

That's harsh.

I wouldn't mind Bowen, Davis, and Hannah. Maybe Bollinger as a 2/3.

Bowen maybe. I don't think he's that good. The other two, not interested really. Especially Bollinger. I never wanted him in the 1st place.

i would like to re-sign canty, as long as he doesn't cost us too much. Also if we let KB go then that forces us to sign another linebacker, so he can go. Kieth Davis can stay as long as he can contribute. This team has no room for slackers.

I am not sold on Burnett...strikes me as the type who might mail it in once he gets paid. Let him go and sign Angelo Crowell for a bargain price.

Canty is the toughest call. I do think both ends are vastly underrrated by fans, not the greatest pass rusher, but he is pretty good at the POA and by all accounts a solid locker room guy.
If the price isn't too high, I say you re-sign him.

Killa' Keith is a very good ST player, he needs to be re-signed.

I like Bowen, he is only 24 years-old and seems to be improving...he is a no-brainer.

Austin needs to be tagged...they have to keep him considering the uncertainty of the position and his age.

Definately bring back Coleman and especially Hannah who is progressing and has a nice upside.

The rest are not expendable, though I do like Hurd's attitude and blocking ability.

Canty's as good as gone with the kind of money he wants. There are several other 3-4 teams that would likely give up the money for him.

I agree that Dallas will probably find itself unable to keep Canty. But if I had to choosen one guy to re-sign, it would be him. I just think it's very difficult to find solid defensive linemen.

I like Burnett. Being in Knoxville, I have followed his career for a long, long time. I don't think he'd mail anything in. I think he's a quality guy, has character. But he has never been able to stay healthy -- not in college and not in the NFL.

Burnet looks like he's finally healthy and playing well, the years prior I always thought he was over rated. Still I'll never forget McNabb running him over on the 5 yd line. They should show him that clip when they talk about his new contract...

I keep thinking Burnett will go to the 49ers. That was his favorite team growing up.

I know this sounds nuts, but I am interested in seeing Carp play the ILB spot?

Me, I want K. Davis back. As a 3rd or 4th safety he has real value and he's a leader.

I am not entirely convinced that Canty is going to find a huge payday elsewhere. If he does, fine. But if we can get him back for around 5.5 mill a year, then it is a good deal (Ratliff got about 4 mill a year and Tommy Kelly got 7 mill a year).

Of the RFAs, obviously Austin. But I think Hurd and Bowen can contribute here. I doubt anyone wants them badly enough to go after them.
