Opinions wanted: Why did Orton want out of Dallas? ***Merged***

He didn't want to go thru preseason. Almost every veteran, particularly QB's hate going thru preseasons. Elway stated that is why he retired...he could still play, but preparing to play was brutal for him.

The Cowboys knew that. I don't think they ever bought into the retirement talk. And I think the retirement talk was probably just media nonsense.

I'm guessing Orton did not already spend the $3 million and had enough money to be set for the rest of his life. Him and his agent probably felt that he would likely get signed with a team...and he did. If he didn't, he was all set anyway.

Nobody wants to play in Buffalo over Dallas. MUCH higher taxes, much crappier area to live in, particularly weather wise. The funding for your salary likely takes more time to get into your bank account in Buffalo where in Dallas it gets into your account right away. And a better team.

Want my opinion? He hated Dallas. He only came here for the money and possibly taking over for Romo. Although I think his a sour puss many of these players that leave have something negative to say about our organization. It starts from the top and then Garrett. We have a GM who doesn't know how to be a GM and a coach who doesn't know how to coach.

And....he threw that interception on purpose.

Go...and tell the others.

Hey you may not like what I said and must have thought it silly.

But I was just going along with what the OP wanted - OPINIONS WANTED. If he didn't want opinions don't ask for it. In this case, he got what he asked for.

Whatever Orton's reason(s) for leaving Dallas were -- he SCREWED them over bigtime with his selfish BS. He lied and created a fictitious story about wanting to retire. Dallas never fell for it, then called his bluff. Anyone who has no more scruples than to pull a stunt like that on their team isn't the type of character deserving of a roster spot. Weeden may or may not prove himself to be as good a backup as Orton was but I'm well satisfied in knowing we've at least got someone who's willing to work for his paycheck.
