Has your view on the team become more or less optimistic after watching the preseason games, and why?

I have grown kinda numb from all the Shenannigins the last few years.
Mainly the way the team has handled the offensive line,
Kinda like the emperours new clothes.

I am in a wait and see mode.
I hope the team does really well and Garrett proves to be the answer,
or that we crater and fire Garrett.

I want the direction for this team to be so obvious after this season that Jerry
has to take the action that is necassary.

ROMO- Imo, he is Jake Plummer and Jake Delhomme rolled into one. The last two preseason games will be very telling as to how his season will go. If Romo doesn't play well, I see a benching in his future, because JG's job is on the line.

Jerry resigned Romo during the offseason to $108 million deal I can assure you there's no benching in his future and you can book it. Garrett's job is a lot safer in the hands of Romo than Kyle Orton or any of the young QB's the Cowboys have on the roster. Your opinion couldn't be more wrong.

Up.

More weapons offensively. Assuming no one goes down prior to week 1, this appears to be the best OL we've had in 3-4 seasons. Not saying much, i know. The defense can only be better than last season. Also i think the schedule plays a big part in how a season unfolds. While there are no "gimmes", the early part of the schedule sets up for a good start assuming the team is playing relatively well.

I am pretty "meh" about this team. Show me a reason to believe and I will be the first on the bandwagon, Garret's boys havent shown a reason to do that.

My optimism has been heading up since the day I learned Garrett would no longer be calling plays which I believe was our biggest issue the last couple of years.

It would be nice to play a good team so that we would know more. Playing well against bad teams hasn't been our problem. Until then, we can't really be sure.

I'm still optimistic after this turnover debacle. This things go in clusters.

My mental state i.s even keel. We only upgraded our horrible OL with a rookie center. Our D was hurt last year and those guys are back now. So those two things cancel each other out. Even

If this was Madden, and the injuries were turned off, I'd feel very optimistic about our chances.

OL is a major concern. Running game looks suspect. Safety and CB play suspect also. Special teams has made some huge mistakes and zero big plays. Turnovers and penalties on offense still a fatal flaw.

There are areas of strength too like passing game and LBs and up front with Ware and Co.

The dress rehearsal next week vs Cincy will show a lot. If things are cleaned up we can be an 11 win team like I've predicted. But if this messy stuff continues it's more of the same

I'll wait until the regular season. The pre-season hasn't impressed me. Has the first team offense even scored a TD yet? They look good at times but those turnovers yesterday were terrible.

I don't know how I can feel better about the team after that steamer we dropped yesterday against the vaunted Arizona Cardinals.

Up, mostly because I like Garrett and I think he's building the team the right way.

Of course, I'm in the minority because there's basically no scenario where I wouldn't retain Garrett after 2013. Even if Dallas goes 6-10, he's coaching my team next year.

I'm terrified Jones will axe him with another 8-8 finish though.

It hasn't wavered. I started this thought process around 9-7 and still see us hitting that mark. Whether you consider that optimistic or pessimistic is up to you to figure out. One thing I do know (& we have had these cyclical conversations for the last several years with the same outcome), the way you generally perform as a whole in the preseason more often than not translates directly into how you will get out of the starting blocks. We are showing that our 1st team offense still has a few issues getting on the same page as evidenced by the blatant miss to Terrence Williams down the left sideline. Easy score and something you have to hit. The preseason is where you prove to yourselves that all you've studied, practiced, and analyzed to the hilt will work. I have no doubt some of this is the offense still adjusting to Bill Callahan's style but I would love to see a few scores next week. We have all the weapons to go 12-4 but it has to all fit together nicely or else it's just high end slop. I'm feeling as though 10-6 is remotely possible but want to see what we do in this next game. Of course, there will be the usual suspects that say the preseason doesn't matter. blah blah.. Actually, it does. I do feel slightly better than I felt last year about this team.

Assuming the turnover mess won't happen again, way up. Romo and Dez already look in mid-season form and the pass protection at least looks decent. The run game still looks like crap though. I also like that when the D creates a turnover, they typically come up with the ball.

Really? We play the AFC West in inter-conference play. It doesn't get any easier than that. KC, Raiders and San Diego are easy wins. I'm pleased as punch with our schedule overall, looks pretty easy to me.

San Diego has averaged 8-8 seasons over the past 3 years. Are they really such a gimme?
