Optimism headed up or down at this point?

He needs some help at receiver. I always thought he was overrated but he is better than what we are seeing right now.

Jesus replaced him and took the team right down for a score. Rivers has been on a steady decline. That new coaching regime is not going to let him continue to come up with untimely turnovers. If he continues along the same negative trend, he will find himself most likely on the outside looking in next season.

I should stop calling him Jesus.. Charlie Whitehurst.

Maybe so. But I still see an O-line who can't block at all. We had about 2 runs the whole entire game that had any sort of daylight. Our guard plays is atrocious, as it has been for years. You know it's bad when we are begging guys that are retired to come out of retirement and come be our starters. 3rd and a foot and we throw a 20 yard fade route. Our 1st team offense has scored 3 points so far. And it's not just that, it's the same move the ball between the 20s but never produce any points.

We will have another 8 win season but because the East is so bad, we will be competitive in that division. Barely miss the playoffs and thinking we are just a few players away from being really good going into the offseason. Wash, rinse, repeat.

You can't hide behind "it's only the preseason" all the time when the same problems for years are still there.

wait... we are still having OL problems?

i thought this was the magical year 3 of the fabled garrett "3-year plan"

No, we're not. Did you see the Pittsburgh O-line last night, the one with high draft choices like Pouncey and Decastro? Now THAT'S a problem. LOL.

Up, the team just seems to have a more positive vibe, no doubt reflecting the leadership of players like Lee (and the coach!).

Optimism up over this time last year. We have a better team this year, so we should have a better record. With a little luck, we should have a starting five on the offensive line who can pass block well and open a few holes for the running game. If we can keep our safeties healthy and get some good play out of them, our defense will win some games for us. 10-6 should be attainable.

meh ... o line is still bad .. just not as bad a Pittsburgh was last night. D line is another year older. I want to see something good happen. Until then ... its another 8-8 season ... frankly LBs and DBs dont make for a good defense. Its guys up front.
