You gotta think beyond a quick fix.

So what I would do is keep him another year if possible but I am definitely looking QB in the 1st or 2nd round in this coming draft.

Now there is no way Jerry and Stephen would even consider this because:
  1. They are loyal to a fault with guys, not moving on from some until far too late.
  2. They are loathe to admit mistakes and cutting or trading Dak would mean they made an error in giving him that big contract and they simply don't like to look bad.

Let's put it this way, if you play ANY qb that never gets you to the playoffs or gets you there and you're one and done, is there any difference between that and Dak? All Dak is doing for this team is giving us a low 1st round draft pick. But then again our owners (dumb & dumber) would screw a high pick up anyway. Going on 30 years guys . . . Think about that . . .

....cut Kellen Moore and you'll begin to solve a bunch of problems on offense, almost immediately.

I’m not so sure about that. We’ve had a very productive high scoring offense while he’s been here. That’s not to say there hasn’t been some issues with the playcalling because there has. Since Dak suffered that serious ankle injury two years ago he’s lost some of his confidence. The last time we saw him play consistent football was early last season.

Point.....there has been some issue with playcalling........every week, and situational football today. Not gonna let Air Coryell Jr off the hook like that. Not gonna do it. That is the problme that is being masked.

We are stuck with Dak until 2025. But I would due my home work on QBs coming out in this draft. If there is one in teh draft take him. Let's see what the Texans due with Davis Mills. If they move on from him, I would look at possibly signing him as Daks backup and eventual replacement in 2025. At least the kids has some brains.

Dak still has two years remaining on his contract and I don’t see the Cowboys moving on from him but it’s possible they could take a QB within the first three rounds in April. They’re going to have to start preparing for life without him because they may not re-sign him.

They will restructure his contract this offseason, which means adding years to lessen his annual cap hit.

Some folks won't like that but if you think Jerry's looking to move on and draft a QB, prepare yourselves.

I’m not saying we’re going to move on from Dak anytime soon, so let me be clear. I’ve been in Dak’s corner the entire way but if we don’t win at least a playoff game this season they could very well take a QB in the second or third round depending on what the QB crop is like. It may not be this April, but it could be in 2024. Dak has become up and down, so I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if the Joneses decide to take a QB at some point relatively high in the next couple of years in the event they decide to move on from Dak. Even I’m starting to see chinks in his game. He’s not the same QB he was early last season and he’s missed games the last three seasons with injuries.

HURT'S HAD 2 INT'S JUST SCORED 25 POINTS AND WON!
DAK HAD 2 INT'S YET SCORED 34 POINT'S AND LOST.......
You guys need a new agenda. Dak is the least of our problems. Eagles had Dak scoring they win by 15 today versus 5. But according to you guys, Dak is horrible and why we lose:lmao2:

First off, Jerry loves him, so he’s not going anywhere… There’s also that nasty no trade clause…But what if…

Impossible
Cut this offseason, pre June 1. 89m in dead money.

Not impossible,
Cut this offseason, post June 1. There is no point to do this as his P5 is guaranteed. Literally no reason to do this…

Possible but kills our 23 offseason.
Trade this offseason, pre June 1. A little cheaper than Outright cutting him as his guaranteed p5 would move with him. Still 58m in dead money.

Plausible
Trade this off-season, post June 1. This is the sweet spot. We would save 31m in cap space for 2023. We would still have 40 million in Dead money, but it would be spread over future years 2024 - 2026.

Trade - You ask why would anybody trade for him? The answer is that since we would eat his remaining signing bonus, the acquiring team would get him on a two year 65m non guaranteed contract. There is actually value in that… Still that no trade clause though.

So there you have it. The only realistic option for 2023 is a post June 1 trade, that Dak agrees to. I think we could get a first round pick for for him… Maybe something like the Carson Wentz deal between Philly and Indy - a 23 third rounder and conditional 24 first rounder. .
As you said, Jerry loves him.
Jerry’s opinion is the only one that counts.
Love or hate him he is your QB for the foreseeable future.

Really hope a decent QB prospect falls to the 20s where we will be picking. This is the perfect time to draft a QB and let him sit for a few years while Dak finishes out his contract. If they still have not advanced far in the playoffs after 2024, are they really going to re-sign Dak to another big contract at age 32? I think even Jerry has more sense than that.
Sorry, but I don't trust GM Jerry to make the right call on Dak.
Jerry gets too attached to his players.

Hahahahaha!!! I love seeing how much Dak irks y'all...
:muttley:

He was damn near perfect today and these clowns want him gone. He had one bad pass to Brown early in the game. The first INT the defender grabbed back of his arm just as he released it. The second INT the ball hit Brown above the numbers and below his facemask. Brown should've caught it. He caught a similar throw like that, a much harder catch, in the endzone for a TD. You score 34 points you should win the game. PERIOD! If you don't then that means your defense didn't hold up their end of the bargain. PERIOD!

Joseph was the main reason we lost.

Here's a better, more realistic question, in two parts:

Will Spaulding be a better GM/Owner than Jerry and Stephen
and will any of us be alive to see it?

Yeah I know you’re right… But with that extra draft capital I would mortgage the farm And try to get up to the top of the draft… Like the Eagles dead in 16.
Most of these fans probably weren't even born the last time Jerry drafted a QB in the 1st round. Jerry doesn't draft first round QBs.

Wow. Zero understanding of cap dynamics.

Yeah. 45 million dead money in 13 and 14. Recipe for success.

Jerry will extend him. Jerry will see no need to improve the quarterback position. Personally, I would first like a new OC to see if he can design an offense to play to Daks strengths...Moores offence is designed for how Moore wants Dak to be...it doesn't work that way. I want Dak to be Tom Brady...but that will never happen...

I'd like Dallas to take this in steps
Step 1. Fire Kellen Moore. We need to know who is holding who back. Is Dak making Moore look bad or vice versa.
Step 2. Resist the temptation to rework Dak's contract this offseason. Leave the contract alone and work around it. Give Dak a season with a real OC.
Step 3. Draft CB, DT, and OT for 2023.
Step 4. Play out 2023 and see what Dak does.
Step 5. If he stays inconsistent and the offense is inconsistent then draft a QB in rounds 1, 2 or 3 in 2024 draft. If he plays consistent and we go to the playoffs and make noise then we'll know it was Kellen and not Dak.

Worst case scenario. Stay put with Kellen Moore and Dak and continue restructuring Dak and that contract keeps hurting us.

We need to know for sure if it's Dak or if it's the OCs he's had. He's had Garrett and Moore. Not great. Get Dak a real OC that has skins on the wall and see what happens. If Dak still is a turnover machine then put in place a 2 year exit plan. No matter what we're stuck with him for 2 years so let's use those 2 years to figure out if he's peaked and he's going to not play better or if it's coaching. Then act accordingly.

That's what the Eagles and Rams did with Goff and Wentz respectively. They figured out what they were and moved them with a plan in place. Since 2016 both of those teams have won a super bowl, we've won 1 playoff game.
