Butler gave it to them, Scandrick stuck by his guys.

I found the quote about Tony interesting. "Tony was running the show. Tony was calling the plays"

Take Romo out of the equation and Garrett is probably a .350 head coach.
More interesting to me is why was it so easy for Dak to take over the team if Tony was running the show on everything? I mean Tony came back and all of the sudden it wasn't his team anymore? Weird.
Tony was like Peyton. The general on and off the field. It still irks me he didn’t win a super bowl. Busted his back here. Literally

Just listened to the interview and both Bayless and Sharpe tried to bait Scandrick into providing some dirt and he wouldn’t bite. He looked totally prepared for what they were going to do. Sharpe tried like hell to get Scandrick to crap on Dez and he wouldn’t do it. He stood by Dez the entire time. He backed his teammates including the young corners. They tried to get him to say he was better than the young corners and Scandrick would have none of it.

The comment he made about Romo running the show wasn’t a dig at Garrett. He was talking about the 2014 season and how the offense operated under Romo but Sharpe continued to try and get some dirt out of him. Scandrick sat there calm and relaxed knowing Sharpe and Bayless would try and pull something out of him that might create some waves. They didn’t get what they wanted.

Basic offense, strong run game with pass protection, and new tendencies that teams had to prepare for with our QB.

So this year the run game was off at times, the pass protection was certainly off at times, and Garret & Co. played into the tendencies they had created in the previous year,

We are a reactionary team. We will wait until we fall flat on our face before we change anything instead of getting ahead of it.

You could see that Scandrick was being fased out last season. He’s had injury issues and there’s a youth movement going on in the secondary.

I've said before and I'll say it again, I like Scandrick and would feel real good about my chances with a team full of players with his mindset and work ethic.

Very well spoken too.

Not sure what the number is but at the right price, I think he can still be an asset to the team

Listening to Romo commontate, you know he was running the show when he was on the field. He knew what the defense was doing all the time and thus taking the clock way down all the time. I mean, sure he had plays called in from the sideline, but I wonder how many times he actually ran them as called. He was changing things all the time.

That said, he was not calling plays last year so who gets the credit fro 13-3? Garrett, Linehan? I may agree with you if you had said .500 Coach but .350 come on.....

He didn’t provide the opinions they were hoping for. Bayless talked about how embarrassing it was when the Cowboys were going through their three game blowout slide and asked Scandrick what he thought of it, in hopes he might take a shot at the coaching but he wouldn’t go there.

Orlando was blessed with speed. It's the only reason he lasted as long as he has. He has become more physical in his later years but it is also taking a toll on the physical being. He still does not look for the ball as I feel he should and it is only natural that he has lost a step or two over the years. Based on the cap hit and the skill set, I don't expect him to remain with the Cowboys, especially with the younger talent now onboard.

Scandrick is great. I love his whole grouch routine with the media, and I love how he handles his business and doesn't shovel dirt on the team. It would have been really easy for him to just let the Dez stuff lay there, but he stuck up for him anyway. Stuck up for the young DBs, backed up Dak, but still gave credit to Tony for what he obviously did that Dak isn't able to do yet. Very impressive.

I agree. But I don't think he wants money. He still wants to play.

I think we see if we can land a S in VFA. If we do, we can move Jones to CB or to a hybrid role and afford to flip Scandrick to a good situation for a late round pick. He's got an affordable year on contract still, and he can play slot or outside. He'd be a valuable DB to a lot of teams yet.

Because of perfect circumstances Dak succeeded last year and the team was kinda forced to stick with him. I mean how are you going to bench a guy on an 11 game win streak.

Romo was the better qb for this team last year and this year imo.

What might those things be?

The part about Romo affecting Garrett's win/loss record is a certainty.

That's not unique to Romo and Garrett. How did Green Bay do without Rodgers? How have the Colts done without Luck? Think Brees doesn't affect Payton's won/loss record?

Elite QBs elevate coaches. That's one of the qualities that makes them elite. Conversely, coaches can elevate not-so-elite QBs. Zimmer is an example of that this season.
