Orlando Scandrick

Scandrick is actually a great player.. One of the best slot guys in the league.. I am beyond happy we have him.. He also is one of the few guys on our defense who plays with any type of anger/swagger.

I am glad we got Webb he was a great value where we picked him and can fill in should Scandrick get injured but I don't think he is here to replace Scandrick at all.. I think he is here for depth

Carr, Claiborne, Scandrick, Webb, and Sterling Moore.. That gives us 5 capable corners so we wont have to get guys like Michael Coe in the middle of the season next year when a guy gets banged up

Ok man, keep puffing that magic stuff.

You call that Swagger? :lmao2:

My guess is they will keep oscan next year obviously and the year after at 3.5 million (patriots signed kyle arrington @ 4/year to play slot), but hopefully webb can start in 2015.

I think the same goes for miles austin. He'll be around next year and the year after at 5.5 million (dolphins signed brian hartline @ 6 million/year), but hopefully williams can start in 2015.

Until then, both can be use used on special teams/sub packages. Both are positions that take some time to develop anyway.

What? Terrance will definitely see a lot of PT as an outside WR very often in 3WR sets when Austin in slot, Dez on the outside. Dwayne Harris can't compare with Terrance Williams as a wideout. Also don't forget that there is a 99.99% that Miles hamstrings will act up.

I have to throw my hat in as well in favor of Scandrick. I think he is an above average slot corner.

I'm just going to go ahead and disregard your posts on this topic until and unless you get around to actually supporting a position, one way or another.
Seems appropriate.

Scandrick has had his ups and downs over the years but who hasn't?

Brandon Webb has potential but will be lucky to make the team. That's hard to see at the moment, so close to the draft when fans are excited about all the wonderful new potential but most draft picks don't work out.

I count 3 receiver sets as a sub package. We'll probably only run them like a 1/3 of the time with all these tight ends...

Yea I could say a lot of things about his game. Swagger isn't one of them. Dez is the only person on this team with swagger. miles? No. Claiborne? No. Lee? No. I can go on and on.

Man I went through one page and saw Scandrick is a great player and one of the best slot corners in the league :laugh2: What in the world are ya'll on and where can I get some? This guy is always 2 steps behind the man and 5 years into the league still does not know how to turn his head to locate the football in the air.

LOL at Scandrick having swag. Only two players really have swag on this team, Dez and Carr.

There's zero chance we cut Scandrick this year. That would leave us woefully thin and inexperienced at the CB position. It ain't happening, nor should it.

I think he is a good slot corner but I agree with your last sentence. Sometimes, he just need to turn around for the ball. Especially that Victor Cruz catch in the finale in 2011. We would never know what would of happened if he would @ least batted the ball down.

Yup, those are the only 2. I LOVE both of them too. I will be extremely happy the day we get rid of Scandrick.

Orlando is a good player. He is a sure tackler and decent in protection. He will get picked on from time to time being behind his man, but then again he has flashes of great play. I remember, in particular, against the Pats when he shut down Wes Welker for the entire game.

They are stats/facts.. not relating at all to the statement made by the poster.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the NBA playoffs right now.

That's a fact too.. and just like the other facts, it in no way proves that Orlando Scandrick is one of the top slot cornerbacks in all of pro football.

Just because one man's opinion is that his completion percentage allowed is "remarkable" and he slaps a random "A+++" grade on the guy means jack squat when he doesn't compare his stats/facts to those of other slot corners around the league.

Also, its only data from one season. To be considered one of the top slot corners in football, i'd imagine there would be some kind of consistent performance being looked for.. not just a half decent season of 11 games played.

So yea, nothing really to sweep under the rug here, even if i wanted to, ha.

You seem to have a problem with what a fact is here. The Lakers are NOT in the playoffs right now - THAT is a fact. They were swept by the Spurs and are no longer in the playoffs.

Scandrick had by far his best season statistically in '12. His 51% completion against was much better than his prior seasons' average of 66% and his teammates average of 65% this season. His team-leading QB rating against was also his best @ 68.5 vs. prior seasons' average of 98.2 and the other CBs rating of 95.9 in 2012. League-wide, Scandrick was ranked 17th best in terms of completion % and 14th in QB rating against.

Doomsay, I don't know how things work in Karjakistan, but that is not how empirical arguments are made around here. The essential component -- emojis indicating amazement and frustration -- were absent in your so-called 'data'.

scandrick is much better than he is given credit for. 51% comp for a slot guy is very good.
he will not be cut as some suggest. we don'y have the depth. i suspect he will be here beyond next year too. the year after when his base goes to 5 mil he will be cut and hopefully we have a guy ready to take over

I think Scandrick is a good CB playing a tough position as a slot CB. If one of the younger players prove they are the better option then I would expect they will take over the position but as things stand right now I fully expect Scandrick to be the starter this season in the slot CB.

And if Webb doesn't pan out and Scandrick is gone, i'm sure everyone will be like, "Man why'd we get rid of Scandrick 'cause this guy sucks!". Scandrick isn't as bad as everybody is making him out to be. He plays a hard position and does a pretty good job of it too. Is he a shutdown slot corner? No. Is he the best slot corner out there? I honestly don't know but he is probably a Top 5 slot. I think the fact that the rest of the D not being able to make plays(i.e. get constant pressure on the QB to either get sacks or make him make bad throws, etc.) doesn't make his job any easier therefore more likely to make a bad play or get a penalty to try and stop a big play from happening. He isn't perfect but he sure as hell isn't terrible. Now his attitude on the other hand...
