Looks as if Weeden will be the backup. Thus far he has had a good camp look forward to seeing him get reps in pre season.

Either play for your freaking money, or retire and give it back. Don't force the team to cut you so you don't have to pay back what you stole.

Both sides are in a salary cap stare down. Orton is trying to get himself cut so that he doesn't have to pay back the un-amortized portion of his signing bonus. The Cowboys are holding off from cutting him so that more players don't see that as an option in the future.

But what option do they not want the other players to see? That you can do the absolute bare minimum and get away with it?

This was a mandatory physical....not voluntary.

Why? If we cut him he gets to keep his entire signing bonus. If he just refuses to show up we can keep fining him over and over and will likely have some recourse to get part of his bonus back.

I'm pretty sure most teams see what Orton is trying do and will stay away to see what happens.
