Our fanbase is too entitled

People on cowboyszone really do have reading problems. I never mentioned our season aspirations or the futility of the last 30 years. I am strictly talking about rookies and realistic expectations.

Sure if that is what brings you to your comfort zone go ahead. Just do not expect many to buy it.

At first glance, I looked at the thread title and thought it said 'Our fanbase is so excited' and I was going to reply 'and they just can't hide it'.

I think the level of impatience is partly do to the franchise not cracking the Divisional playoff round for so longer. Some fans' anxiety has translated into hoping any drafted or acquired rookie will be the key to unlocking that closed playoff door.

We have no patience to let players just develop anymore. Players like Parsons, Tyler, Diggs, Dak, Zeke, etc that were immediately great players have skewed peoples perception of what a rookie development looks like. Settle down and let players develop.

Entitled? Really? How? They haven't won anything of significance in 27 years.

The amount of money players are now making as rookies, especially the first thru third round picks, dictates to teams that they have to be able to start as soon as possible. Gone are the days that teams drafted rookies and they usually sat a couple years before they even started. It was unusual for rookies to start. Teams don't have that luxury anymore since rookie contracts expire in about four years and a second big money contract is looming. So fans have even less patience. It's ok to be patient with late round picks or even undrafted FA....time is on the team's side. And this just isn't a CZ fan forum problem.

Yet Rookies today make way less than they did before the Rookie salary slots started a few years ago. They used to sit and make big salaries. See Sam Bradford’s rookie contract.

I call BS with the thread Title. Its a largely false statement. Are we being entitled just asking for a couple wins in the post season? Guilty as charged I guess. To be brutally blunt this is a post a loser will make when he loses. It does not matter how often he loses he still thinks he is a winner.

Posts like this are so distanced from reality. 30 years between championships is nothing in professional sports.

Chiefs - 50 years
Patriots - 40 years
Jets - 50 years (current)
Packers - 29 years
Steelers - 29 years
49ers - 28 years (current)
Dolphins - 51 years (current)

And that's not counting the dozen or so teams to have never won one.

To think that Cowboys fans "deserve" more than what has occurred is ridiculous lol.

While this is true, you also have to acknowledge that Dallas has now set the all time record for most consecutive divisional round losses and most consecutive playoff appearances without reaching a Conference Championship game...so we are setting the bar for playoff failure even though we don't currently have the longest championship drought.

It has been around three decades since this team has made it to and a Superbowl. Entitled is not the right word.
Impatient is however. Fans need to give players time to prove themselves to be good, bad or just average.

If a few months into a players NFL career is all that is needed to judge a player we would have missed out on some good players while at the same time anointing some others that started out well and fizzled out.

Yeah I can’t say this fan based is “entitled” because the last time we won a title, most people here either weren’t born yet or were very young when it happened.

Saying Cowboys fans are Impatient is more accurate.

And while I do think too many fans are a little short fused and impatient about player development, I do believe long time Cowboys fans have earned the right to be impatient about this organization’s lack of ability to even get us to a conference championship game. On that, I am admittedly impatient.

But on 22 year old rookies…patience is needed. On the 80 year old owner/GM and his stubborn ways, I believe patience is not warranted.
