This organization seriously needs to reconsider whatever it is that they've been doing to blow so many 2nd round picks. I had read in the past that the rest of the staff gave Jerry his big chance to contribute by allowing him the 2nd round pick to do so. Not sure if that's 100% true or not but something needs to change. If it's really so, they'd best lock him in a broom closet and proceed, undaunted by any perceived shame.
It's been taking risks with second round picks that's resulted in all the blown second rounders. Drafting TEs with #2 picks to try and fit them in with Witten has failed miserably resulting in three blown second round picks since 2006. Drafting injured players that had first round grades by many that fell in the draft due to injury concerns hasn't worked out except for Lee. We gambled on Gregory who had a drug problem and never got off the ground with him. Jaylon Smith another injured player who dropped in the draft has already seen his rookie season wasted as he continues to rehab a college injury. We have to stop taking risks with our #2 picks and make smart, safe picks like we have in the first round. Save the gambles for the 3rd round on.
