You must not know anything about football to make some of the comments you have. Allow me to fill you in on a few things Romo had to attempt 45 passes because the running game wasn't getting it done. Our backs combined for 80 yards rushing averaging only 3.5 a carry. The game was won on the arm of Romo who passed for 356 yards and 3 TD's with the final TD coming with 7 seconds left with the game on the line.

You realize 3 runs at 3.5 per pop is an average of a 1st down? I know that much! What was our starters average that game since he wasn't getting it done? Was it the run game fault we passed 3 times from 1st and goal on the first series of the year or was it because they weren't getting it done? Things that make you go hmmmm!

Do you realize that 2 backs combining for a 3.5 average means a number of their carries aren't even gaining that much? McFadden on 6 carries only averaged 2.7 a carry and if one of his carries didn't go for 8 yards he wouldn't have cracked 2.0 a carry. Of Randle's 65 yards 15 of those yards came on one carry. Both he and McFadden had several carries under 3 yards which forced Romo to have to use the short pass as an extended handoff mostly to Dunbar to try and move the chains and generate some offense. The only way we could create space for our RB's was with the pass. On the Cowboys first possession Randle had several carries of 3 yards or less including a no gain so most of the yards on that drive were coming via the pass.

The Cowboys had a first down at the Giants 5 yard line and chose to pass which wasn't a bad play call considering they were having success throwing the ball. They were forced to throw on second and third down because of a false start by Witten. Not having a power back who could push the pile put them in a position where they had to depend on their passing game throughout the game. The dirty yards have been tough to come by all season which is why the Cowboys are the worst team in the league on 3rd and one. Their inability to run the ball consistently has put pressure on the QB position which has been terrible resulting in the defense having to spend too much time on the field.

We have come to bury him, not praise him!

Right-o. Holler at me when the Romo myth begins anew. Say after he wins his 3rd career playoff win.
Quite an accomplishment for a walkon who is now long in the tooth and chronically brittle and/or injured. But I do like myths. A few 8-8 years, a stellar 12-4 and then back to mediocrity before the long, long fall to awfuldom. But if he can get back healthy, one of these days, with some winning years, who knows, maybe as good as Danny White who won many playoff games.

Ah yes, the same age old cry of why Romo is no good. The team playoff record. Well, you see how good this team is without Romo. 1-8. So 12-4 and a playoff win is quite an accomplishment now isnt it?

And Danny White was a hell of a QB.

I've seen a few people in this thread say we'd be a 9-4 team with Romo. Think about that for a second... 9-4 is the record of a contender. Maybe not a Super Bowl favorite, but definitely a legit contender. To the people saying we'd be 9-4, have you seen this team play this year? Have you seen this team play this year WITH Romo? We struggled to beat 3 bad teams and we got embarrassed by a good team. That's with Romo. Don't let 3-1 fool you. We're lucky we weren't 2-2 from that Giants game.

I'm not saying Romo isn't great. We're a 1-2 win team annually with Romo. And on average throughout his career, we're a 8-8 team with Romo. He accounts for 7 wins by himself. That's greatness... But you're fooling yourself if you think we're a great team with Romo. One 12-win season and people forget the past decade? Last year's team was a good team and a contender. Those 8-9 win teams were not good teams and not contenders. If an elite QB can account for 7 wins by himself, think of how good a team has to be on its own. A contender is a 6-win team without their QB. We're a 1-win team.

If you still believe we're a contender with Romo, rewatch the Giants, Eagles, Dolphins and Panthers game. Then watch a few games of the Cardinals, Patriots, Broncos, Panthers. Do we look like those teams?

1. The only reason the Giants were in the first game at all was due to turnovers, not because the Cowboys weren't a better team.
2. The Cowboys completely dominated the Eagles and won easily.
3. The Cowboys dominated the dolphins and won easily.
4. If Romo is not hurt, we have no idea how things are different against Carolina. It's a pretty safe bet he doesn't look like he did, and then it's a much closer game.
5. Are you implying that Romo is essentially no better than Cassell or Weeden? Romo couldn't get another FG in regulation against NO? A TD at some point against Tampa? Another FG against Seattle? A better 2nd half against Atlanta? A better game against the terrible Giants secondary? And that he wouldn't have put up a much better fight against NE and GB leading to who knows what in those games?

12-4 is a heck of an accomplishment. I remember thinking, after our 1 win in the playoffs that season (and sitting watching others in the playoffs) what a great season it was. Who knows, one of these days, Romo might get his 3rd career playoff win.:)
