He'll benefit in the long run.

abersonc said:Well for one, I see you comparing Apples and Oranges. Guards don't give up very many sacks. They also are sheilded from the ref so they won't pick up as many penalties. Buenning is guard, so is Mankins.
Brown played well and so did Roos. They of course were picked #13 and #41 overall. Petitti was picked #209 overall. Seems like a bargain to me.

True, I could see Merriman pulling some sean tayloresque shenanigans sometime inthe near future. I think all this media hype is going to his head. plus he's represented by the postons who knows what kind of contract demand/renegotiations he will ask for in the future.CrazyCowboy said:Ware is the very least of our concerns and our Cowboys are very fortunate to have him! I would not trade Ware for Merriman......character is important when talent is equal
I just think it was another unfortunate situation, kinda like vinny at QB. Petitti was never supposed to start this year, he probably wouldn't have even gotten much playing time, if Rogers and Flozell didn't get hurt. Petitti will have to mold his body and get more quickness over the years if he ever plans to start. I think worst case scenario, he is a solid backup for awhile.AdamJT13 said:Barron allowed only 5.75 sacks, but he started only 11 games and was flagged for 16 penalties. Kaczur started only 11 games and allowed 8.25 sacks, which prorates to 12 sacks for a 16-game season. So Petitti allowed only 1.5 more sacks than Kaczur would have over 16 games, despite having a quarterback who gets sacked far more often.
Petitti might have struggled, and those guys might have played better, but it wasn't by much, if at all.
This is what I expect after his peformance from this year. Anything better I would be happy with.Hiero said:I just think it was another unfortunate situation, kinda like vinny at QB. pittdawg said:does it really matter if you think he deserves it or not? a professional service, using the same criteria for everyone, has deemed him deserving. that should be good enough for anyone, it is for me.
big dog cowboy said:Good for Petitti. Considering everything he went through this year. Tough year. He'll be vastly improved next year.

joshjwc9 said:I was just posting my opinion. They included 3 OT's and 2 OG's simply because there were 2 rookie C's who started. IMO Pettiti deserved a honorable mention but it kinda seems Ourlads threw this together at the end of the season.
pittdawg said:this whole analysis is so meaningless, i can't believe people feel the need to comment at all.
pittdawg said:point is this is a subjective analysis. according to their criteria, he is deserving. this makes no comment as to future play. i believe this heavily weights on games started and only meant to state a rookie's impact "playing time" relative to other team draft picks. this whole analysis is so meaningless, i can't believe people feel the need to comment at all.
abersonc said:A very good point they make about Ware. Must be double teamed. How many guys coming out of a small school can they say that about in Year 1? The very talented Osi Omenyiora -- also from Troy -- managed a single sack in his first year. And he had Strahan on the other side -- not Al Singleton and Scott Fujita.
We have a serious stud on our hands.
