Juaquin Iglesias - He's got a cool sounding name and he reminds me a bit of Kevin Williams ... who was an underrated but important contributor.

(I don't know that he'd be the best pick on the board, but I wouldn't be disappointed with him. And it'd be nice to have someone pushing Crayton.)

Sean Smith is the only guy that I feel wouldn't be a reach at this pick.

Connor Barwin for me. The guy has the intangibles you look for and is a spectacular athlete. I always go for passrush and blocking over skill positions as I feel a good passrush can make a good secondary but never vice versa.

It's a matter of maximizing resources. After Barwin I would take Smith just because he seems like a very good prospect at FS.

We had the best rush last year but our secondary was still bad.

I bet Jerry & co. have a Rodgers-Cromartie type crush on Sean Smith. I keep telling myself hell be there, but if he somehow is there around 40, we should trade up.

They were high on DRC?

By the way..why do you have skip bayless as your avatar?

Yea, I think he would of been the pick at 22. Then maybe a trade up to get Felix/Chris Johnson. (Apparently Tennessee prefered Felix)

-I have no idea. A mod should change it

Needs: 1 starting caliber S, 1 CB w/portential, 2 LBs, 1 OG, 1 OT, 1 backup QB, 1 WR and/or 1 WR with serious speed, 1 DL

I am in agreement in getting Smith if available, not sure he will be with his times and measurables, not so sure about his football intelligence. Some are saying:
"Sean has big time talent with a suitcase full of bad habits that he is going to carry to the next level. He does not read receivers on the run, looks into the back field too early, turns his hips before the snap of the ball because he wants to be able to eliminate flipping his hips during the route. Of course, he doesn't realize that this gives away the defense and at the next level, he will have to learn to play chest-to-chest or a WR will burn him like a piece of robe soaked in kerosene. He is very confident. In fact, he is almost too confident. In spite of all these bad habits, you can see the talent and the ability to be a #1 impact CB for the team that drafts him. Sean should be an excellent zone CB, but let me tell everybody out there right now. If you're thinking that Sean could be a safety because of his size, I just think that is dead wrong. He is a CB all the way. The kid can cover and has the talent to cover those big WR's for the next level. He has the intelligence to figure out how to cover the small WR's and he is not too proud to ask for help if he feels he needs it. This kid has the CB mentality. I'm sure he could be a good cover safety, but I think you're wasting way too much talent because Sean is a drag down tackler and personally, I do not like my safeties to be drag down tacklers. Talent like Sean has does not come in his size very often so I suggest you coach his bad habits away and keep him at the CB position. Once you do, you will discover a Pro Bowl impact CB. If you are a playoff team late in the first round of this draft and you need a future #1 CB, you would be foolish, in my opinion, to pass on this kid. "

I am high on that Brandon Tate WR chap who played opposite Hakeem Nicks at NC. He had been injured or else we would of never heard of Hakeem, he seems to be someone we should keep our eye on, thanks to another CZ member for alerting us about this kid, this could be the Scandrick of this years draft. Brandon Tate remember the name.

OG: Oregon Fenuki Tupuo(sp) one of the better names in the draft that should be on our radar:
"Fenuki is one of the better offensive linemen in this draft. He is a massive, powerful kid with excellent athletic talent. He has good feet and balance as well as that in-the-box quickness that is very rare for a player his size. Fenuki is an excellent run blocker and has the feet to be used in a pulling offensive line system. He shows good athleticism going to the next level and should have the strength and mental stamina that most NFL Pro Bowl offensive linemen need to have. Fenuki is one of the better offensive linemen in this draft, but I don't think his impact position is as a left tackle.
As a pulling guard, Fenuki could be one of the best. He has leadership abilities through his play on the field. He is smart and can help a LT on the inside in pass protection because of his quickness both in space and out of a three point stance. Fenuki makes the players around him better and if he is drafted and plays as a LG, he will be a LT's best friend in both pass blocking and run blocking. If you need a guard that is ready to play the day after you draft him, then you would be very smart to draft Fenuki. "

DT: Evander Hood Missouri, This guy if the second coming of Jay Ratliff, more of the worker bee type that will require constant double teaming. We are not able to draft an all pro at this position, we could certainly use someone of his talent to free up Jay.

S: Rashad Johnson smart guy just a little undersized like Hamlin we already have, we may regret passing on this kid as he is a football player without the measurable. Would love to see him fall to our second pick in the draft. Chung is a headhunter who like to make people pay that beat him, Johnson does not like for people to beat him hell with the payback. Not sure that Chung has half the smarts of Johnson in Football schemes.

Thanks for the input so far, I'm actually starting to change my mind on my "Plan B" guy.......I'm still waiting on some more pro-days evals.

I hope you are not using Pro Day results to grade one player as better than other. That's a waste of time. Get your hands on as much footage as you can. There is plenty on YouTube.

What??? Nice contradicting right there. With the right coaching and work ethic this guy can play anything he wants. He came into Utah as a RB and WR(which is why he didn't get heavily recruited). His Sophmore year they lost 5 CB's and he actually stepped up and asked if he could help play dime/nickel corner. He excelled in it and became one of the best corners in college IMO in only 2 years! This guy a freakish athlete and a former reciever! He knows all about routes and formations which allows him to have an advantage.

This article by Mcnaulty sounds just like Cromartie's when he came out. He makes big plays because of his ability but also gets toasted alot. Cromartie is bst suited at Safety just like Smith will be.

Sean Smith without question. I'd be satisfied with most of those guys, but he'd be my top choice.

No way he slips that far unfortunately.

Toss up between Smith or Barwin. CB/Safety hybrid is a bigger need IMO, so I'd lean towards Smith...but I've been stoked on Barwin since someone first mentioned him four months ago.

I seriously doubt either one will still be there when we pick, however.

he's the highest rated player of all the choices...

So what? That doesn't mean it's hands down..he's a few spots ahead of Smith and their comparing a LB to a CB/S..apples and oranges...

Looks ike the the majority here is Sean Smith so that kind of says something. I guess Barwin isn't as "hands down" as you would like him to be.

more like double digit spots ahead of him, he could sneak into the 1st round, no way in hell Smith does

the majority on a message board doesn't mean much really

It doesn't?

So you would have taken Gholston last year because he was rated double digit spots ahead of DRC?
