Today seems like a bad day to start my 'Outside of Murray, we barely pose a threat running-wise' thread. Rats. I was looking forward to the interesting debate on *that* topic.
Our Passing Offense since 2010 when Dez arrived has all been smoke and mirrors. No talent at all. Our Running Offense this year, all smoke and mirrors. Break out the Tums, I have a premonition of mass ulcers coming.

Williams benefits from Dez's double team presence.

Of course he does. As would any WR on the other side of Dez whose name isn't Calvin Johnson (Who, btw, would be the one getting the double team thus helping Dez. :) ). But at the same time if he continues to make these plays eventually defenses won't be able to double Dez all the time.

That helps Dez.

Again.

What happens when he can't body catch? Have you seen consistent proof that he is reliable to haul it in if it's not near his chest?

I think the only question we can answer right now is whether he's consistently dropping passes. And the answer to that is no.

Williams' preference is to body catch. I don't like that, but unless it becomes a bigger issue than dropping an occasional pass, like every other receiver, then I'm not going to get too upset about it. Being a good, reliable receiver is less about how you catch than being open and making the catch. He dropped one that he should have caught and wasn't able to bring in a contested high throw that plenty of receivers have trouble catching, like Dez letting the high screen pass from Romo go through his hands.

I know you all love Terrence Williams, but the fact remains a fact. Show me more than 5+ highlights since he's been here where he has made great plays with his hands. Not his Body.

I'll give you one....the TD pass he caught last week and got drilled. Hands catch, held on. Great play.

In fact, going into the Texans game, sportingcharts.com had Williams 190th in the league in dropped passes (16 catches, no drops). No. 1 was Victor Cruz with 21 catches, 5 drops, followed by Demaryius Thomas with 21 catches, 4 drops.

Obviously, Williams will climb up that list (how much depending on how many drops he's credited with in the Houston game), but he still won't be near the top. In fact, two Cowboys (Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray) will possibly be ahead of him, depending on how many drops they are credited with.

I think what the original poster MIGHT be trying to say is....will Tony ever be confident to throw the ball up like he did to Dez in OT...and expect Williams to go "get" the ball. When you catch the way Williams does...you do not meet the ball at it's highest point...so QBs will be cautious about giving you a chance to make a play. And that does handcuff the offense...because Williams is in one on one OFTEN...and Tony needs to feel comfortable going to him...instead of throwing into double coverage forcing the issue with Dez. If you look at all of his picks this year...he was caught FORCING the ball into Dez..and once to Witten. Tony is going to have to become more accustomed to giving Williams those chances...but Williams has to give him a reason to give him those chances.

In 2014 I already know 5 reasons why Romo should be throwing the ball to him deep. See bomb to TWill for the TD in the Houston game. This thing about Romo not trusting him because he can't catch the ball at the highest point is moot. Just watch how he caught the ball - it was with his hands.

No but it's the stats that matter. He has 5 TD's so he is great and does not need to work on anything.

I really hope these same people have his back if we ever get into a situation, where we need him to come up big, and he can't haul it in, and we lose.

Every WR in the NFL can work on things. Dez has and continues to work n things. He has grown every year. I doubt you will find people who does not think Williams does not need to work on things, that is just hyperbole on your part.

Your title says outside of Dez we barley pose a threat passing wise.

People think you are wrong in saying it the way you did.

As far as the other part of your post. On this forum someone is always going to complain about a player or play

Some have even complained about Dez over the years when he has missed a catch, ran a bad route or fumbled the ball.

Dez has worked hard and I think Williams has worked hard as well and the number of passes his way and the number of Tds so far back that up and Tony's trust in him.

Sorry, but those don't count. Obviously, the ball wasn't in optimum body catching position, and he was just batting them away.

Can't argue with some of this, as you are correct.

I worded it wrong in the tittle. Can't take it back though.

We know you won't. You don't have his back and he was already in a situation where Dallas needed him to come up big and he did hault it in yesterday.

I don't think anyone said Williams doesn't need to continue working hard and improving or believes he is already a finished product. It is just difficult to get on board with placing this unreasonable level of expectation on Williams. By your logic, Williams can never drop a TD pass in a close game or he alone will bear the brunt of the criticism in a Dallas loss. It takes a whole team to win and lose games. If Dallas loses a game a possible TD drop by Williams would be one of many reasons why Dallas lost that particular game. The guy is going to drop passes. All WRs do and some of those drops will be important. So will some of the passes he catches.
