That is a well thought out post.

Let me counter with...

If Romo is worried about those situations...why has he thrown it so much to TWILL, in the endzone to a tune of 5 TD Catches (and more attempts in the endzone) and also that heave ho he let go after Watts missing him?

I think he feels more than comfortable going towards Williams as it is right now.

However, if Williams continues to have some troubles with the drops that could change and that is regardless if he catches it with his body or snatches it out of the air.

Something else that should really be considered before throwing up dramatic thread titles.
Williams is the #2 WR on this team. Dez is far and away the #1.

There are a few teams out there with better #2s but Williams is a pretty darn good #2 and his TDs stats thus far prove so.

Because he knows Dez gets most of the attention and is constantly double teamed.

I could be a complete ****** and say Terrance needs to constantly beat his 1 on 1s a lot more.

Today seems like a bad day to start my 'Outside of Murray, we barely pose a threat running-wise' thread. Rats. I was looking forward to the interesting debate on *that* topic.

Oh, I agree...having a 3 yr receiver with 5 TD receptions the first 5 games speaks a lot as to QB trust.

It really comes down to production. The OP says we barely pose a passing threat outside of Dez.

Dez is a top 3 WR in the league...
TWill has more TDs than Dez....

The numbers alone provide proof that the OP is wrong.

Unless Romo delivers a perfect ball to Williams and his chest, he is not catching it. He loves to use his body still. Evidence was there when he had to use his hands, and failed miserably.

How the hell did our scouts not see this?

He looks good at times, because Romo puts it in a spot that allows him to use his body, but what happens when he can't consistently do that?

He's a great athlete, yes he made a nice play, but we can't ignore the fact that one day him and his comfort of using his body to catch the ball, will come back to bite us in a huge game, where Dez is doubled, and we need a big play from Williams, where the ball might not be perfect, and his hands will be needed.

Cowboys offense is #3 in NFC. It's the defense that needs the scrutiny.

I know you all love Terrence Williams, but the fact remains a fact. Show me more than 5+ highlights since he's been here where he has made great plays with his hands. Not his Body.

As long as he catches it I don't give a crap.

He had a HUGE catch for a TD and I don't care how he got it done.

Jesus the way people complain about the dumbest things. The guy makes plays but you want people to complain cause he doesn't have Jerry Rice's hands?

Here is what I will say. If Dez had been double covered on that OT throw. Romo probably would have just taken a sack. And teams will NOTICE that. Again..all of his picks this year were because of him forcing the ball into a doubled/tripled Dez. Those throws to the middle of the field....to Williams....were not nearly as difficult. Williams had the defender on his back in single coverage. The throw to Dez...down the sideline...Dez was covered. That was simply a jump ball. And your QB will not throw that to you if you do not attack the ball in the air. Miles Austin was famous for "waiting" for the ball to land in his lap...and he often had the ball knocked away. I love Williams. I know he is only the #2. But he...like anybody else...can get better. And he has got give his QB confidnce that either he will catch it...or NOBODY will catch it. Tryo struggled the same way with Alvin Harper. So this is nothing new.

No but it's the stats that matter. He has 5 TD's so he is great and does not need to work on anything.

I really hope these same people have his back if we ever get into a situation, where we need him to come up big, and he can't haul it in, and we lose.

Surely everyone can understand that a "body-catcher" does not mean that a receiver always, 100% of the time catches the ball with his body?

Body catchers, on occasion, can grab a ball in the air with their hands only, likewise "hands" guys can sometimes catch with their bodies, helmet, other guys shoulder pads, whatever.

It's just that their preference or propensity is often to catch one way over another.

IMO, most elite receivers catch the ball with their hands (read: hands guys), and as such, they tend to attack the ball in the air, often at it's highest point, and by doing so, they often eliminate/reduce the ability of a DB to make the play, short-arming a pass and/or allowing the pass to bounce off of their mask, pads, etc.. I also think hands catchers have the added bonus at making sideline and end line catches.

Someone want to throw Witten into this conversation?

Pretty sure Beasley caught everything thrown his way yesterday and extended each play.

I don't know of anyone else in the league with more TD catches than Williams right now, yes he dropped an easy catch and a difficult one in the end zone.

Harris seems to deliver when it gets to him also.

Murray's better at catching out of the backfield than he showed yesterday. I think he was a bit gassed.

I would not want to know what the passing game looks like without Dez Bryant. He just commands too much attention which allows everyone else to get their one on one match-ups.

This issue came up before and somebody posted gifs of him making multiple catches with his hands.

There have been really good receivers in history that were primarily "body catchers".

And if that catches on, we'll have the invasion of the body-snatchers.

Actually almost all of our pass catchers have very good to great hands and good concentration. If you are into splitting hairs, yes they are except for Dez for the most part possession receivers and some even Dez to a point are not the best route runners.I am not going to complain from the days of Roy E Williams and Kevin Ogletree heck even T.O.'s hands are not as good as the three WRs and two TEs we have.

Williams benefits from Dez's double team presence.
