No better compliment for a QB than being told you are a threat with your legs. I wonder why Trance's HS Coach said he was more of a RB.
It has been established years ago that Jerry is not a football guy. So what he says means nothing. Other than who plays based on contract status. Which in itself shows he does not know much.

Well Rush makes less than Trance.

There is no point playing Lance. Play the QB that's most like Dak. No point having a mobile QB, when for the foreseeable future our QB won't even run onto the field, in case oc injury.
Get Johnson and hope he can transform the stationary QB, as he did with Goff.

The best we can hope with Lance is he comes in and plays half decent and earns him a contract from another team giving us a comp pick

Best opportunity for Trance to start would be against the Giants and Carolina.

Yep, there's no other positive. If he plays well it just further shows Jerry up (which I suppose is a secondary benefit).

It all depends what we're looking for for the rest of '24. If we're looking at an offense with a stationary QB (Rush), and work on the O-Line protection for Dak in 2025 (when I doubt he gets double digit rushing yards)......or we want Lance to showcase the ability to get a contract which gives us a comp pick.

So what is the excuse for Dak? He has played like he only threw 300 passes in his lifetime.
He has had a horrible year. I think Trey or Cooper can do just as well at this point. But we will see if that is true or not.
Just as well as what Dak did this year is abysmal. I think the hope was he would start slow and get better but it just never happened.

We know he struggles making NFL caliber throws on a regular, we get that. What we're overlooking is the fact that when he takes off and runs, he makes nice gains. I think this can really get fan excitement boosted when he does this, and will give our offense a much needed spark. Please give your thoughts
Id rather lose with Lance than Dak. Dak is done as far as Im concerned. Dont care if he ever comes back!!

Too bad we could never run effective RPO plays with Lance. The opposing defenses would never bite on the running backs in play action because they are trash. They'd just key on Lance keeping the ball because nobody fears our running backs doing anything special.
Read option, not RPO.

The coaches know a lot more than we do- they see him on the practice field, and also know how his mind works.

That said, why not play him? He doesn't have the experience of Dak, but the OP is correct in that Lance is far more mobile. Dak has been horribly inaccurate this season, so it would be nearly impossible for Lance to be worse in that regard.
If they value Lance and want him to be a part of the future of this franchise, they will not play him

Same to you and yours…really. Life goes beyond football.

I was just being a smart*** because I think most realize Lance is not going to be any answer…unless the question is ‘who did the Cowboys waste a 4th rounder on?’
On a team that Jerry made the number one the highest paid player in the league . . . as if

Jerry believes if he does not play him that he can keep him

If he plays well he doesn’t look stupid. He looks smart honestly.
Jerry looks stupid for signing Dak and not letting the season play out. Right now Jerry looks like a total moron if Lance plays well he will price himself out of Dallas. Jerry will be left with Dak as the young Lance moves on

How many guys on that Chargers defense from that preseason game are still playing? How effective do you think that RPO would work after seeing our running game in REAL games.

Yes, Lamb is very athletic and would be able to break a nice run here and there, but I'm sure regular season games planned games would look much different from preseason defenses vs 3rd and 4th stringers.
Many teams played their starters in the preseason games against Lance. Not the whole game but they were in there

With Dak out, your fear is even more real now. Oh, wait, Jerry mandated him to play regardless after wasting $240 million. You will be fine.
Jerry rather lose with Dak, than to win with any other QB.
Jerry is a Dak over Dallas fan.
I hate that about Jerry

I revert to Trey Lance preseason performance, and career for reference of a good organic tank if he was to start. Problem is, the WRs n TEs production and opportunities would suffer. Cooper should keep guys engaged and running good routes.

I prefer Rush 100%, but Jerry is paying Trey good money and he invested that 4th round pick...so interesting to see how they handle this.

We still do not know enough about Trey yet. Easy to say he can’t make the throws for fans. Because he did not light it up to their expectations in PS fake games without the starters.

He needs more playing time.
I agree but several people on this forum already told me he sucks so don’t even bother playing him.
