If we lose Quinn I do believe Joe Whitt Jr is the lead to get the DC spot. He comes from Dom Capers 3-4 System look for FA and draft to try and fill those pieces
They could fill them but it would take some moves, you dont really have but 2 of the Dline you need to play it unless its a pressure version. LB's we are really short on those, LVE(is he good to even play more?), Parsons, Sam williams...i dont know that they have another that could be average to above average in that defense. Overshown can play but probably needs to add some wieght..you need Mazi to take a HUGE leap again it could be done but its a pretty big move.

The whole point of going 34 Defense is to put our best player in a position to not wear down. Plus it’s time to start playing big boy football on that side of the field. I want monsters that wreck a game.

If you have the right players, the 3-4 is great. But the 3-4 is based on deception such that the offense never knows where the fourth rusher is coming from. In order to do that, you have to have multiple pass rushing threats from the LB position and your ILB must be able to play at either MLB or OLB. The main "problem" that we had when running the 3-4 was DeMarcus Ware. When you have him on your team, the offensive pretty much knows where that fourth rusher is coming from. Find 94, that is where the fourth guy is. LOL If Dallas were to go back to a 3-4 tomorrow, we would have the same "problem" with Parsons. Also, Tank might hold up as a 3-4 end or he might not. Same for Odighizuwa. Both are a little light for that position. And we have zero candidates for Nose Tackle in a 3-4.
yeah we're too smart to mask things and make the opposing offense think, might be a bad idea

The reality is we probably need to run it back with DQ and fill some holes and have LVE and Overshown play...if we are not gonna start rebuilding. the defense has DQ pieces all over it would be alot of moves to switch it to a more traditional defense, thats just the facts.

no thanks on LVE, he needs to think about his future after football, O, who knows if he'll even be fully confident in that leg

i agree but if im looking at what the easiest move for the defense to be any good next year without adding MANY pieces..LVE is one of the biggest pieces that was missing.

This might be a dumb question but what does a 3-4 look like against 3 WR sets? The vast majority of the NFL spends their time in 3WR sets. Dallas, like most teams, goes to a 4-2-5 nickel. What does a 3-4 do and how does it look? 3-3-5?

As far as personnel, Dallas might be closer to a 3-4 on the line than people seem to think. Mazi without the weight kind of looks like a 3-4 DE.

Linebackers? Well, Micah is a classic 3-4 edge. Outside of that, Dallas has nothing.

your soley building this D for teams that are comming at you with 2 TE sets then your going back to nickle during passing downs..we would still have a damn good pressure package for the nickle.

3 WR set, yes, you run nickel, but DQ staying in nickel vs 2 TE sets is the problem.

Cowboys 3-4 looks like:
OLB Parsons/Williams
RDE Osa/Mazi/Fehoko
NT Hankins
LDE Golston/Mazi/Fehoko
OLB DLaw/Williams
ILB Overshown/Bell
MLB Clark

Cowboys needs a MLB in a major way.

your gonna need DLAW as a DE in this he is plenty good enough maybe even one of the best...your short LB's and 2 more man eaters for the DLINE...Clark would be a huge weak spot in this D.
