This is good news. I believe the punishment was really way over blown. I believe he should get the same punishment as Chris Henry.
I don't know. My impression is that PacMan has done both more and worse than Henry.

When I heard that story about PacMan beating up a stripper (and how that apparently led to a shooting) ... at some point, decisions transcend mere poor judgement, immaturity, or poor impulse control. If the media reports about him are true, it sounds like he needs a time-out (in jail).

What do you call it then? I really don't care what the name, but a lawyer is going to draw on the precedents of previous commisioners and previous player suspensions. Still may and probably will lose, that is what they will do.

And I think I understand now what you guys are saying!

Attorneys! Hate em or love em. Same with the police...hate them when you are in trouble, but love them to bail your butt out of trouble...and if you are the trouble maker, get a lawer to bail your butt out!

 Pacman not only lost money for his bad self, but he's going to be paying some attorneys some good money to try and bail his bad self out of this mess!

If I were an defense attorney, I would want more PacThugs too!

:D

Of course not, anyone can try and sue anyone for any reason and people do it all the time but I think any judge who reviews this will not touch it. I remember when the USFL sued the NFL they won and were awarded 1.00 dollar. :lmao2:

I agree. There are several different "Points" being made in this thread, but the most important is not will the NFLPA lawyers try and help Pac,(sure they will) but will they get anything done. The answer to that is most probably NO.

I can read fine, just didnt see the need to go back and read 150+ posts when I saw 5 or 10 all saying about the same thing...it wasnt just you I was responding to

lawyers can argue whatever they want Hos, but they'll be losing this one bigtime...the league did the right thing...time to take out the trash...guys like Pac Trash, Henry, Tank Johnson, Leonard Little and Ray Lewis have no business being out on the street, let alone making the kind of money they do

David
Then you admit I am not wrong. Just say it.

I hate these kinds of threads! But, you sure can learn alot of things on this board!!
I am fascinated by the law 5 stars. It is so complex and so simple at the same time.

The NFL is a private entity as are the 32 operating inside that entity. Yet their players still have rights guaranteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights that cannot be superceded by the NFL. These guys lawyers will try and argue that this is what has happened to their clients because this is unprecedented and retroactive. I do not believe they can win. I am not talking about them winning. Never have been.

Honestly, stuff like this should not make you condemn our legal system, it should make you praise it. IMO.

The only question i would have, is it retro if they are being punished under the old rules that have been in place since Henry and Pac came into the NFL?

I totally understand the whole point that you are making, believe me! You did a good job of interpretation of this subject without committing yourself one way or the other!

That is just wrong! How are stupid people like me supposed to know what you are saying without you really saying it?

I'm watching out for you from now on!

Yeah, you should have been an attorney....instead of some dumb jock!

Because some people don't understand that you can argue a point even if you don't belive in it. They can't seperate the post from the poster. oh yeah and 1000 :D

Only under the assumption that no other player was similarly punished under those existing rules. The recent fervor of this to get done and the appointment of a player's advisory panel will make it look like new judgments are being applied retroactively.

Understand something, I have never said the players will win, nor am I now. I am saying this is how they will fight it and what language they will use. It may or may not ever be heard before a Judge. I tend to doubt it. More likely someone will be appointed as a Mediator. The question becomes will the NFLPA back these players when they fight it? I think they probably will, even against the amjority opinion of their membership.

Personally, I find that fascinating.

Congrats on 1000. That's why I don't lose many debates. I can argue either side equally.

Ya, i realized the point you were making because i've read the whole thread. I also agree the NFLPA will try and help these two but will it be a face saving effort or will the really back these two? I too find this a very interesting and ground breaking situation. Personally i am going to enjoy watching this unfold. The 80%(players for a ban on these two) figure blows me away!!!

That is a damned good question BD. I wish I knew the answer to that. I really do. This goes back to what Sacase said about me. They can argue a point they don't necessarily believe in. I believe they probably have to for the overall solidairty and good of their Union.

Some within that Union will never understand that, nor will some fans. But honestly, don't you just look at it and thank all that is good that there are protections like this?

I love this stuff.

Hopefully, for those guys they will get at least 20% back? Really, in the whole scheme of things? The NFL can go on without them....but they need to learn...and it will all work out in the end...guaranteed! It always will...
