Panthers Claim Moore

It's not a big deal. He knows our offense and if something happens, we can still sign him to our 53 man roster.

Edit: nevermind. Brain fart there. We can't sign off their roster. Was thinking he signed on to their practice squad. Whoops.

matt moore could've been turned into a draft pick after a couple of years.

can't believe they kept all the guards and safeties

Moore (6-3, 202 pounds) completed 21-of-29 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown during the preseason with the Cowboys after being signed as an undrafted rookie free agent from Oregon State. In two seasons with the Beavers, he passed for 5,733 yards and 29 touchdowns.

I wish we had found a way to keep this kid.

Wishing won't help now, but the simplest way to have kept Moore would have been releasing Johnson. Bartel would have been unclaimed, signed to the practice squad, resulting in a probowl QB contracted for 1 year, with 2 potential backups for development.

Guess we aren't getting him back.

OK, so where are the guys who said I was nuts for stating that he would be picked up quick? You know who you are. :bang2:

it stinks, but its the system

instead of griping about who we lost to other teams, be glad that for the first time really since the super bowl yrs, players we cut interest OTHER teams

and in regards to Moore, he was never seeing the field here in Dallas anyway....his only real value would have been as possible future trade bait

If Romo is hurt I would rather have Moore out there than Johnson.

Thanks for that inside info Jason. My bad.

Can you also explain to me why the Panthers, with Jake DelHomme and David Carr already on the team, would sign Moore so quickly? They could have signed Brad Johnson a long time before we did.

Get real dude, Johnson sucked last year and has nothing left. If Romo goes down we are screwed if he has to play. Moore is a much better option and at least the Panthers knew it. If Brad Johnson has to do more than hand off and throw screen passes then we are sunk.

really pretty simple...Carolina wanted to carry 3 QB's and we didnt

they also have huge QB questions going forward, whereas its apparent the people running our team think our QB situation is secure

and if you really thought a rookie free agent was going to play ahead of a veteran backup this yr, something is wrong

Lemme splain you: Brad Johnson sucks. He isn't a "veteran backup" he is a washed up, ancient, weak-armed, has been.

maybe...but he gives us a better chance to win a game or two here or there than a rookie free agent does

if the team thought otherwise, Moore would have never been released

the bottom line is we need Romo to stay healthy and be productive...if we get in a situation where he is out for a long time or for the yr, the season is over...

Moore is not a 2007 debate just like a Romo debate back in 2003/04/05

But what will Moore be in 2010 and was he worth keeping as a #3? I think I don't have enough info to make that call but it may have been a mistake to not have kept him.

We really tied up a lot at Oline and FB ON 53

There are few former Iggles I respect. Jaws is one of them. During the ESPN telecast of the NFL Draft in April, they would occasionally list the best available players left on their boards. Soon after the 4th rd. began, Jaws began mentioning Moore, and he drove most of his colleagues crazy with his incessant Moore homering. As usual, though, he backed it up with solid data.

I was hoping the 'Boys would take a flyer on the guy by the 6th rd. When I found out they signed the guy as an UDFA, I figured we got one of the steals of the draft. I guess we won't know for a while, but it looks like the Panthers just might have been the better theives.

The Panthers 3rd qb(Brett Basanez) got hurt against the Patriots. They were actually planning on going the two qb route also, but apparently decided to take a look at Moore.

I think people are too quick to assume that undrafted QBs are only a year or two from stardom. Seeing Romo do it has made some people too antsy to call the next longshot "the one"

Frankly-I'm shocked everyone takes preseason games SO seriously.

Pretty much EVERY QB going against 3rd/4th stringers are going to look GREAT.

Wow-you guys are really making up some funny **** today-Moore the next Montana? PLEASE!

Yeah, I thought no one would possibly sniff him... Oops.

I think Moore showed something that not every young QB has. But maybe we can get him back if or when Carolina has to let him go.

Really-what does everyone seen in this Moore kid? Aren't we taking preseason games TOO seriously now?

Frankly-if the Panthers are so *high* on David Carr(a former #1 overall pick bust, that is), why are they even more higher on Moore?
