I know that there are only 32 of these jobs and sometimes you have to strike when the Irons hot...but seriously don't take an NFL head coaching job unless you have a plan at QB

Just looking back at the Head Coaches hired before the 2020 season

Joe Judge...Fired
Now looking at the results from this season, Judge was bad, but also his fate was in the hands of Daniel Jones
Matt Rhule...Fired
Trading for Sam Darnold was the best they could do last year and trading for Mayfield so late in the offseason was never going to work. Given the lack of QB talent in the 2020/2021 NFL drafts, he should have stayed at Baylor
Ron Rivera...Seat is extremely hot
He's partially to blame for taking Chase Young over Justin Herbert, but Taylor Heinike and Carson Wentz won't help you remain employed
Kevin Stefanski...probably safe
I don't see him going anywhere despite the steps back the team has made since 2020, since they traded for a QB that they knew wouldn't play, but at lease he realized Baker wasn't the answer and moved on. Odds are if Deshaun Watson doesn't hit the ground running in 2023, he's gone
Mike McCarthy...playoffs will decide
I don't see him going anywhere, but out of all five he had by far the best QB situation and it shows

All of these teams firing HCs are gonna be looking at Dan Quinn

FIFY

Unless he’s dying to be a head coach, why go to a bad situation when this defense has so much potential. I can see him leaving for a good spot, but how many of those are really available?

When you have an owner willing to back up the brink truck to your house, you be ome very selective on where you're willing to go as a HC. Why put yourself on a short leash for just a couple of dollars more and the right to say you are in charge.

Ok, they're in play to tank now and look for draft capital.

DJ Moore in contract year and annually gets 1100 + yards with nobodies at QB. Runs all the routes, great yac and hands. 25 years old, great work ethic and speed. Drama free.

Go get this guy.

Slightly surprised Owner didn't keep him on till the end of the year in order to get a top pick as there was no indication he could turn it around

I'm not.......he considered firing him after last season. I would guess Quinn will be high on his list of replacements

He hasn't done a great job, for sure.

But looking at Carolina's schedule and roster, I'm not sure 1-4 is unexpected.
They beat New Orleans and were inches away from beating both New York and Cleveland. Not that either team is great, but they aren't terrible this year either.

Now, if Rhule was the one who personally pushed for the Mayfield trade, that may have been part of it as he has been awful so far.

Venables better be careful....Rhule could end up at OU

I'm sure he will be at the top of every college team vacancy. Interesting........fired from one job and becomes the hottest candidate for another

Hard to blame the guy, he’s playing with Darnold and Mayfield at QB. Not sure what anyone would expect there. Wonder if they have a fire sale and we can get Christian McCaffrey or DJ Moore from them…

I think both of those guys are gone....

and if McCaffery can play a whole season he'll be a STEAL for any team

I'd rather the Cowboys look at drafting Zeke's replacement late. There should be decent value there. Spend free agency for the DL and OL - maybe secondary players.

Wonder had they defeated the Niners if Rhule would have still been fired?!

OH the irony i remember 2020 this zone said Rivera, Rhule, Meyer, and Joe judge were better hires then MM..keep mocking Big Mike making fun of his weight wants him fired

The zone hated MM wanted all those on that list over MM

am i missing anyone who else was hired in 2020? Stefanski?

MM got the last laugh, im seeing we made the best choice that year anyway.

for what?

hes 1-4 not 1-10 that team wasnt going to be great this year i wouldve kept him and saw what he could do leading into next year

This was his third year, we’ve already seen it fail over and over. They’re just getting worse

But there were a couple of posters saying Dallas should have traded for Mayfield because he would be an upgrade. Funny how that wasn't true then.

The tandem of Elliot and Pollard is working and their styles compliment each other well. I like McCaffrey, but he would be a luxury, not a necessity. And I doubt they could afford that luxury. Moore would be a very intriguing addition.
