Unless he’s dying to be a head coach, why go to a bad situation when this defense has so much potential. I can see him leaving for a good spot, but how many of those are really available?

that’s my thought process. last year was the year to land a desirable gig. if brandon staley winds up getting fired i could see the chargers being an opportunity too good to pass up, but not many others

One of these teams are gonna be looking at Dan Quinn
Quinn isn’t goin to want to go to a team without an established qb. He’s a defensive minded guy so he doesn’t want the headache of a developmental qb at the helm.

Another team that will be eyeing Dan Quinn. The Cowboys might have to make him HC if they don't want to lose him....

Who knows....but maybe if we pay him a head coaching fee + 25% more he'll stay. He'll basically be starting over in turning around an entire team. Not just the defense.

A coach is really only as good as the players on the field. Wherever Quinn goes he won't have Micah and that will change his outcome most definitely. He knows that.

We have guys playing lights out that were bums in other places or JAGs before Quinn got here.

Yawn. He'll make $4 million a year back in college.
If we ignore the offset clause in his Carolina contract, he'd surely fire his agent if he settled for that salary at a college job.

What he should do is collect a cushy TV check while he banks Tepper's severance pay then jump back into the college ranks after another year or two of salary bumps have raised the bar yet again. He can build up his network of assistants and even get some time to evaluate the college talent pool to be targeted in the portal once he pulls the trigger. Let's also not forget that the TV windfall that's hitting the big conferences will drive up the dollars available as well.

Do we know the level of the Commandoe's management team ? They are already in dysfunctional dismay hell with their current owner Snyder. and who knows how it's
like from the top and down. - Ron Rivera may be limited by their standards.

- What if Washington lacks in the executive area to execute trades, and FA signings, cap budgeting, scouting and player personnel.

- Look how we saw what happened to HC Jon Gruden entrusting in key personnel guy Matt Maylock era regime of management and player personnel.

- Again there are Defensive oriented head coaches that depend very heavily upon their respective asst.coaches/OC's to provide support.
Vice versa with offensive minded HCs relying upon their DCs' - and Again it depends upon the " quality " of their coordinators, asst. coaches
Mike Nolan vs Dan Quinn.

- What is important for a HC, is knowing when to delegate and when to step in place input on what he prefers, suggest. .
if an OC seems too pass happy and ignoring the run game, it's up to that HC to step in and deliver his impression and preferences.

I don't disagree with any of that, just pointing out simplistically that Rivera and McCarthy both took teams to Super Bowls WHEN the units that were not their area of expertise was strong. I do believe Rivera might have had better success here because he would have been coming into a situation where the offense was already considered a strength and most likely where the coordinator of that offense would have been kept to oversee it. Then, he could have worked on his area of expertise. McCarthy has smartly worked to improve his defense through coaching and personnel when he was brought in for a team already strong in his area of expertise. Whether that's all him or not, I can't say, but it's been done under his watch.

In two plus yrs he’s 11-27. Not just this yr got him canned . He heads back to college coaching my guess a second tier program and if they win then back to the big kids table in college .
