and if McCaffery can play a whole season he'll be a STEAL for any team
Hes the highest paid RB in the league , hes one of the most injured ..you want zeke gone but bring in Cmac..that's ludicrous and hypocrisy at its best..what happened to NOT pay a RB that kind of money.??

you draft one next year Texas has 2 Pro ready backs. id take either plus we have 2 on the PS that have UPside this TC..

so HECK NO!!!!!! NO TY!!

you replace zeke next year with RB drafted 2-4 round.

You need to stay young at RB, never pay a big bucks, let them walk.

One of these teams are gonna be looking at Dan Quinn

Quinn is currently paid like a HC. He's not going to a bad situation as coaches rarely get a third shot at HC.

Only team I would be concerned about is Seattle. They are in a rebuild year with some serious draft capital from the Wilson trade. If Carroll decides to retire, Quinn would be a natural fit there.

Dan is gone. I have a bad feeling he might end up in Washington with Chase and that front 4.:omg:
maybe NOt we wont truly know where dans head is at,

bump his pay make him DC/AST. HC

weve seen this story before with the likes of wade Phillips and other DCs like Bowles should never be a hc much more successful as DCs..

Rivera's problem as a head coach is similar to McCarthy's. They tend to focus on their area of expertise and neglect the other side of the ball. The years their teams were equally good on offense and defense are they years they got their Super Bowl titles. McCarthy seems to be acknowledging that he understands this. Rivera hasn't figured it out yet.

i think its' totally apples and oranges between problems with Rivera vs McCarthy.
Rivera does not have a quality starting QB.
That's right now his leading headache and problem.

the Commandoes never seem to pursue any quality vet starter in the offseason, and they don't apparently have a young, heir apparent in the waiting
They gambled that Wentz could be resurrected and they are living with that decision.

Did they pursue trades for Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Jimmy Grapp, ?

- Also, their OL unit has really nose-dived in player personnel. (sub Trent Williams, Bill Callahan etc.)
They have to be among the worse OL in the NFL now.

As far as focus on one side of the ball or another- Head Coaches will delegate to asst coaches they trust.
Belichek trusted Josh Daniels
McVey trusted his DC's (Morris, Staley, Phillips)
Sean Payton trusted DC Dennis Allen
Dan Quinn trusted Kyle Shanahan
Andy Reid trusts DC Steve Spags'

Big key of course is the level of quality in those key asst. coaches, and what support cast that team has to help
those coaches...imo.

Hard to blame the guy, he’s playing with Darnold and Mayfield at QB. Not sure what anyone would expect there. Wonder if they have a fire sale and we can get Christian McCaffrey or DJ Moore from them…

They also signed Bridgewater to a 3 year 63 million dollar deal and cut him after one season. Rhule has to have some culpability here.

Carolina probably only trades CMC this year if they get a good offer. Almost 20mil dead cap next year if traded.

They are somehow -11mil for 2023 cap space.

Watching the games yesterday I said he had to be on the hot seat. They didn't look at all prepared for SF and got killed.

Not only did the Panthers need a new HC, even worse they also need a new QB. Baker isn't it.
I miss seeing Mayfield's commercials of him in the Cleveland stadium.

This has to be some kind of disagreement between the HC and the front office. No way they fire a guy after only 5 games. Do they really expect a new HC to come in and win out or something? They need a QB, may as well finish the season with Rhule and pick one in the top 3 spots ion the draft.

Head coaches rarely getting a third shot is also a reason he might leave. He might not get that opportunity again

I'll admit I was wrong about him. Wanted him in Dallas after seeing how he turned Baylor into a physical program.

Some coaches are better coaching college kids. Rule will have his pick of jobs and do quite well I’m sure. You have to think he’d be high on Auburn’s list along with Hugh Freeze.

Unless he’s dying to be a head coach, why go to a bad situation when this defense has so much potential. I can see him leaving for a good spot, but how many of those are really available?
His next time as a HC needs to be the perfect situation. If he fails again he won't get a third job as HC.

Rivera is a defensive coach who puts little value on offense. This shows in the franchise turning to Wentz as a solution for its QB problem. If he stumbles into the right situation on offense, he can win because of his expertise on defense. In other words, he needs someone else to run the offensive show well in order to get the job done.

McCarthy is an offensive coach who has put little value on defense. That has mostly caused his teams to fall short even though he had Aaron Rodgers as a QB. He seems to have either gotten lucky with Quinn or figured out that his only way to repeat his Super Bowl success is to get someone who can run the defensive show well.

That's what the comparison is. One seems to have learned from his mistakes while the other one hasn't. Rarely can a team be strong enough on one side of the ball to completely overcome the other. Of course, the mistake may have been Washington's in hiring Rivera. Washington was already pretty solid on the defensive side, but hired a defensive coach. Of course, we did the same thing. The offense was still our strength when we fired Garrett, but we hired an offensive coach (one reason that I favored Rivera slightly). Who knew that he would end up coaching a defense-led team.
