Twitter: Panthers Fire Matt Rhule

Some coaches are better coaching college kids. Rule will have his pick of jobs and do quite well I’m sure. You have to think he’d be high on Auburn’s list along with Hugh Freeze.
right, chip Kelly's doing great back in the NCAA. hes got his team rolling right now.

I'll admit I was wrong about him. Wanted him in Dallas after seeing how he turned Baylor into a physical program.
Just like some great collegiate players wash out at the next level...some outstanding college coaches struggle in the NFL (Urban Myer).

Rivera is a defensive coach who puts little value on offense. This shows in the franchise turning to Wentz as a solution for its QB problem. If he stumbles into the right situation on offense, he can win because of his expertise on defense. In other words, he needs someone else to run the offensive show well in order to get the job done.

McCarthy is an offensive coach who has put little value on defense. That has mostly caused his teams to fall short even though he had Aaron Rodgers as a QB. He seems to have either gotten lucky with Quinn or figured out that his only way to repeat his Super Bowl success is to get someone who can run the defensive show well.

That's what the comparison is. One seems to have learned from his mistakes while the other one hasn't. Rarely can a team be strong enough on one side of the ball to completely overcome the other. Of course, the mistake may have been Washington's in hiring Rivera. Washington was already pretty solid on the defensive side, but hired a defensive coach. Of course, we did the same thing. The offense was still our strength when we fired Garrett, but we hired an offensive coach (one reason that I favored Rivera slightly). Who knew that he would end up coaching a defense-led team.

Do we know the level of the Commandoe's management team ? They are already in dysfunctional dismay hell with their current owner Snyder. and who knows how it's
like from the top and down. - Ron Rivera may be limited by their standards.

- What if Washington lacks in the executive area to execute trades, and FA signings, cap budgeting, scouting and player personnel.

- Look how we saw what happened to HC Jon Gruden entrusting in key personnel guy Matt Maylock era regime of management and player personnel.

- Again there are Defensive oriented head coaches that depend very heavily upon their respective asst.coaches/OC's to provide support.
Vice versa with offensive minded HCs relying upon their DCs' - and Again it depends upon the " quality " of their coordinators, asst. coaches
Mike Nolan vs Dan Quinn.

- What is important for a HC, is knowing when to delegate and when to step in place input on what he prefers, suggest. .
if an OC seems too pass happy and ignoring the run game, it's up to that HC to step in and deliver his impression and preferences.

To all of the Matt Rhule lovers who have been hating Mike McCarthy...

Where's your Rhule now?

now everyones gonna ask is Ron Rivera next

oh also Mike McCarthy because it gets views

Ron Rivera’s seat is getting hotter every week. We’ll see if he makes it through the season but highly unlikely he’s back next season in Washington.

Wonder had they defeated the Niners if Rhule would have still been fired?!

No; but it was inivitable.
A 2- and 3-point loss to open the season, followed by an upset win over a division rival...beating a 2021 playoff team would have kept Rhule "in the frying pan...but he was going "into the fire" with the upcoming opponents:
@ Rams
Buccaneers
@ Falcons
Bengals
Falcons
@ Ravens
Carolina might not get a second victory until after Thanksgiving.

Yawn. He'll make $4 million a year back in college.

for what?

hes 1-4 not 1-10 that team wasnt going to be great this year i wouldve kept him and saw what he could do leading into next year

The NFL is hyper-sensitive to public opinion and media criticism,,, it also loves to placate those criticizing by offering up someone's head and thus giving the appearance of motion even if the real problems will remain (read Jerry Jones).

I beleive he is still owed 40 million from the Panthers. He could coach for free for the next 10 years and still not hurt for money. I hope he likes South Alabama and ready to WAR EAGLE it up!!

I thought that he was supposed to Ruhle the NFL? So much for that.

It may be longer than that. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Mayfield has a high ankle sprain and will miss some time.

Proven coaches yes, but Eagles seem to have success with unproven coaches/
