Panthers Rescind Franchise Tag on Norman. Any interest

$11m / year and a great great chance to get to the Super Bowl again. You'd think that he could make up the $3 m a year difference in endorsements by being a stud on a SB team - a la Sherman. He'll just be an overpaid greedy loser on the skins or 9ers - forgotten in history.

Or, he could come here and compete for another SB :)

This is looking disturbingly similar to that great free agent CB that the Eagles came in and stole from us a few years back. Turned out great for the Eagles so I can see why a lot on here are so upset with all our rivals overspending and giving away years of draft picks for.........oh wait

Rumor around the league is that a Commanders- Josh Norman deal could be done by end of business Friday. And it'll be a big $ one. @NFLonFOX

Danny Boy is starting to feel cocky after last year. Spend Danny spend.....

Spending millions when you make 100s of millions is OK.

Someone needs to tell Jerry the scoreboard is on the field and not his bank account.

When are you guy gonna realize Danny dosen't make the football decisions..lol The Commanders have a real GM ...

Really? No way he settles for $11 mill.

Not meant as an insult, but unless you are 5 years old you should remember that Jerry has tried the over-spending and trading draft picks away up until the last 3 or 4 years. How has that worked out? The Skins, if this deal goes thru, and the Giants have grossly over-spent on FA's this year. The Eagles just gave SEVERAL picks away for an unknown QB. I'd rather Dallas be doing what they're doing right now. That's not saying I'm happy about everything either. I just think this team needs to build more thru the draft and less thru overhyped, overpaid FA's. Realistically, I don't think this team is going to win a SB before Romo retires so why spend foolishly?.....

You won't convince me that a great pass rush does not help the secondary.

I never said that -- I said the opposite. What I also said was that the secondary is not so reliant on the pass rush that four Deion Sanderses -- ie., the greatest collection of talent ever assembled in one secondary -- would get "torched" without a decent pass rush. We've already seen a much worse secondary (Eric Wright, Brandon McDonald, Brodney Pool and Sean Jones) NOT get torched despite having one of the worst pass rushes in NFL history. They were better than average against the pass overall and led the league in interception percentage.

Norman is 28 -- catering to his contractual demands would hamstring our financial structure for the next five years. As tempting as he seems right now, he'd be a big long term mistake.

this is what i don't get. when the Commanders spend our set of fans who feel spending = winning never look at dannys track record of shiney object success. (SOS?) it's simply not there. their trade of picks for RGIII - bet they'd worship a mulligan right about now. it just doesn't work when you have so many holes to fill.

norman wouldn't take us over the top. take a look at hardy last year when we signed the BRIGHTEST SOS available. hell now only a handful want him back and that's only cause the rest of our DL is out taking pot break suspensions.

it's no fun to sit and watch other teams make big bold moves, but is sure is fun watching it backfire. with what the eagles need giving up all those picks isn't going to get them a WR or a RB or a QB - it will get them 1 and it takes a team to win.

i will say the skins defense is looking good these days, no denying that. esp if this piece is added. but that doesn't mean we need to dive back into salary hell simply to make the IGS happy. at least for now.

So here we sit as the dead skins, igglets, and gnats have all gotten marketably better this year. Not saying the boys should sign every top talent out there let alone the Patrick robinsons of the world. Just sitting here still trying to figure out how second tier talent is going to get it done vs top tier talent.

LOL.

They have the cap space. And they also are improving an area of need they have.

And let's also note that the guy calling the shots in Washington now is the GM who helped build Seattle and San Fran into SB teams. I think he knows what he's doing. People around here would be foolish to discredit what the Skins are doing and just chalk it up to Synder being Synder.

I said it then and I'll say it now. The Skins hiring McCoughlan was brilliance by them.

Our salary is at 159 million, the Commanders are at 161 milliion. They can make it work through cap magic and manipulation. Yes you do have to eventually pay but the cap goes up every year just roll the money over.

You seem confused or generally overwhelmed.

He's obviously not taking the $11 m and a great chance at the SB, as stated. You have no point.

Gotta be sure before you do something like this at cornerback.
