i honestly dont think we will trade for any player.. if we trade a guy like Kenyon Coleman or Ryan Fowler, i think it will be for a draft pick.. i think that Bill is happy with his WR and his OL as it is now.. the value that we get for one of those guys isnt gonna be good enough to unseat anyone we have at WR or OL right now, so just go for a draft pick..

Well, the guys that you list are nothing that anyone would want. What would have to happen is we would have to trade a player that is useful for us, and keep one of these players that noone wants for depth in that spot.

For instance, noone will want Fowler, but Singleton or Burnett could cause some interest. So in the trade, we would trade one of Al or Burnett, and keep Fowler for depth.

Also, I assume anyone we trade would be for a draft pick.

We will get nothing for Coleman or Fowler.

He is looking like the odd man out since BP is absolutely determined to keep McQ off the practice squad. Maybe we could get a 4th or so for him.

I don't think we would have any chance of getting a 4th for him unless the Saints or Commanders have one to trade away. It's debatable whether or not another team would sign him if we cut him from our roster, so I don't think his trade value is too high.

i disagree.. Fowler should draw just as much interest as Shanle did, I would suspect.. Coleman will be on a roster this year, and it wont be the Cowboys.. any player that a team feels can make their roster should be able to be tradeable.. Bill said they were getting some calls about their players.. these are the kinds of guys that they are getting calls about because nobody would waste their time asking about a guy like Burnett because everyone knows that Bill wont trade him..

The comment by BP was teams are calling about our players. No team is going to call about a player that will be cut on 9/07, so the fowlers, cloeman, kincade, are sure not going to generate interest.

The players that probably are getting interest are the Burnett, Tyson Thompson, Al Johnson, Hannam,Polite, Procter, Thomas Johnson, and Reeves.

Any good Gm or Scout will not ask for the ones getting cut, but the ones that are young enough that won't cost that much.

Not exactly true -- if I'm a GM on a pretty good team and there is a guy who another team is going to cut that I really like, I know I've got to make a move for him before other teams get a crack as I'd be pretty far down the waiver claim list -- granted we are talking about conditional 7th rounders and the like but otherwise you don't get the kid.

A 4th?

Bit early to be on the sauce, isn't it?

I see your point, but Shanle was not going to be cut IMO. Thats who you trade for.Kenyon Coleman, Willie Pile, Tarullo, these are cut players then you have your deveopmental PS players that you wish you can keep. But even PS's get raided. For BP to make that comment IMO it had to be for those players that won't start here but might not be active on gameday.

Huh? Shanle couldn't even beat out Fowler -- a guy who may get cut.

If Fowler is that much better than Shanle Why didn't they pick up a draft for Fowler(maybe a 5or 4) instead of cutting him on 9/07. And I believe the people who traded for him know both very well.

Payton might have felt that Shanle was a little better or he needed a linebacker who could cover more than he needed a run-stuffer.

The biggest point is that Fowler and Shanle aren't far apart as inside linebackers. If Shanle can draw a 4th, Fowler should be able to draw a conditional 7th. Coleman should be able to draw a 5th or 6th from a 3-4 team that needs a DE.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, but Shanle did start for us last year. I also think that we got a little lucky that the worse team in football wanted Shanle. Maybe we can dish off Fowler or one of our other scrubs to a terrible team, but I'm not holding my breath.

A safer bet would be one of our more quality backups would be traded........but I'm all for getting a draft pick for a player that we are going to cut anyway, thats like Christmas.......its just not something I can count on happpening.

because Fowler is still competing for a spot whereas Shanle was pretty much done here and being showcased for a trade.
