Parcells on the Haynesworth / Gurode incident

I think he'd earn the respect of his team to decry that act.

exactly. At the risk of sounding corny, I think it's the type of thing that could unite a team.

The constant theme of "I have no idea because I'm focused on coaching this team" crap is getting old fast. If he didn't ask what happened then he's a complete yutz.

Grow a sack and have an opinion. If not for the fans, for your team Tuna. The Rebel Without a Clue schtick is garbage.

I have no doubt Bill will make his feelings known about 'the stomp' to his team. And it will probably revolve around a warning of what will happen to any of his players if they ever did such a thing.

But I don't think he should lament, threaten, or even comment on it publically. He got Jeff Fisher's word he would deal with Haynesworth, and he KNOWS the league will.

Soundbytes for public consumption are not necessary, imo. When everyone agrees that an action is dastardly, there is no controversy involved, and the professional approach is to let the 'due process' take it course.

Bill could go on a tear in the 'that's the worst thing I ever saw in all my years of coaching' vein, but I can't recall any head coach taking that tact.

But his team will know what he thinks. If they don't already.

You're wrong on this. He should not comment until he's actually seen what happened. I doubt any player on the field at the time saw what happened because no one immediately attacked Haynseworth, and I doubt that Parcells had a better vantage point.

Remember, we see a lot more on TV than the coaches see (excepting the "replay" coach who is basically watching TV).

IF Parcells is asked about this at his next PC and doesn't answer, pulling a Sgt. Shultz, I'll agree with you.

The problem is that the next PC will be all Owens/Philly all the time so no one will ask him.

We don't know what was said in the locker room to the players, about this or any other occurrence. Fisher reportedly told Parcells he would handel it and Parcells has no reason to comment on it.
I would think these guys know where Parcells stands with them. They seem to respect the hell out of their coach.

I disagree. BP would've had plenty of time to talk to the guys upstairs from the time of the incident to when he was first approached by reporters. He didn't need to see it live, just trust the guys upstairs and take into factor Gurode's bloodied face and the fact that Haynseworth's act was severe enough to get him ejected (which doesn't happen very often).

I'm not saying BP should've gone ape ****, but a simple "no comment" just doesn't do it for me.

What would be sufficient to say? Every player knows it was garbage, every coach knows it was garbage and every fan (exluding eagles fans) know it was garbage.
The titans will take care of it.

Well, what kind of language would you like to have seen Bill use, immediately after the game based on the reports of others?

That was a heinous act type stuff?

Just that. Say it was "garbage". Give a disgusted look. Whatever. Acknowledge it.

Parcells doesn't truly trust anyone, I mean anyone, and you're suggesting that he trust someone else's description of what happened?

As I said, let him see it before you need a comment from him.

I agree with what BP has done. If he hasn't seen the step by step (pardon the pun) of the play yet, he doesn't need to comment on it yet. Last thing he needs to do is react to the media accounts. I think we all witnessed how blown up the media can get on a story... T.O and allergic reaction = suicide attempt.

The act was horrible and I'm sure BP will cover it during his press conference after he sees the tape and gets the details on what the Titans and league are going to do

i dont like this stance with parcells..he wont throw an opposing teams player under the bus, but he has no trouble in throwing his own? to some players that could be disheartening

I'll tell you point blank, if that happened to me and he had no comment, it would piss me off.

He has guys in the booth who can tell him through those headphones what happened. He doesn't need to have been an eye witness to stick up for his player.

I'm not asking him to go try and fight Haynesworth. I'm asking him to be in his player's corner. He wasn't today. That's wrong.

Look, we have no idea of what Bill says to his team, and zero evidence any player has even been 'disheartened' because Tuna didn't go off half cocked after an incident that will be handled by the league and the player's team.

What Bill is teaching his players is professionlism, not how to to sound like a WFF gumba on a drunk.

We don't know what he said to Dre. He's in his player's corners, and always has been. You don't get the respect of players like Keyshawn Johnson if you're not.

He just won't let US see his wrath.

Bill will never take his fights to the media. He distrusts all of them. What he does behind the scenes we may never know.

true, but but there is zero evidence that its vice versa right?

besides nobody said it was fact, i stated it as an opinion, and what some could view his lack of attention on the subject..

wouldnt u want your coach to stick up for u from the get go?

He sure let's us see it when they mess up.

Remember the f-bomb .gif directed at Witten?

He's wrong on this and the TO "don't know stuff."

It's his job to know. If he's too addled to have an opinion on the health of his player then that's a feeble excuse. Pardon the pun.

so only his arguments and his "distrusts" with his own players go public? but leave the incidents that can be clearly seen on the stadium jumbo tron stay quiet?
