Parcells to Chargers?

if it ever happens (which i doubt) can you imagine castillo and merriman backtracking their negative comments about Parcells version of the 3-4?

Then he would have an excuse. "It wasn't the lack of steriods that caused my play to drop off, it was Parcells coaching style!!!"

:splat:

Not if Jerry let him go. I'd think that if Bill wanted the job Jerry wouldn't stand in his way.

But I think that all is fantasy. Bill isn't coming back this year.

If you see any indication that Parcells is interested or interviewing with another team for a head-coaching position this year or next, it will be a strong indicator that he was fired by Jerry and that they both created the public perception that it was Bill's idea to step down.

In such a scenario (as unlikely as it would be), this is the only rational explanation. You don't step down from one job saying that the fire has gone out, and then 2 weeks later claim that you thought about it more and ... "game on."

But wait, who are we going to blame for Bill's slow decision to retire ? If Jerry fired him then we can blame Jerry for missing out on all the "good" HC candidates and all the "great" assistant coaches.

They just said on NFL live that Sources have said that the Chargers will atleast knock on Bill Parcells door about the head coach opening, figures we would get there reject re-tread and they get might get bill

They will try Parcells, Cowher, and even Jimmy Johnson. Smith has to get this one right because he won the power play it is all on him now.

Problem with him is that his top 2 candidates were Wade and Cameron.

I know. What, is there that much of communication problem down there?

Did Smith not know that Wade and Cameron were gone? Talk about a shocker when Smith asked his secretary to call down to Wades office and have him come up....right away. "He's what?"
Sheesh.............

Doubt it happens, but it would be interesting if BP ended up elsewhere.

If anything, though, BP would return in 08 or 09.

I highly doubt BP would take the job. Sure they've got alot of talent, but so do we here. If he had another year left, he would have tried to finnish here.

Maybe Smith never saw Phillips and Cameron as his top two candidates.

Parcells isn't interested in taking over a loaded team. His thing is to take over a crap team and make them good again. He enjoys that challenge. He won't take over the Chargers.

Isn't Parcells still under contract with the Cowboys?

Yes BP has 1 year left on his contract. Jerry could release him from the contract if he chooses. Myself I think this is nothing more than a rumor.
