I would be happy( thrilled) if we pick an OT early, these guys are prohibitively expensive in FA.

$6.5 a year versus $3 ayear for free. Well that certainly clears that up. Also shows what other teams think of Parnell.

Where did you see that number?

Edit: Never mind, saw it!

Right now I don't know if you go to Washington is your looking to win. lol Sure money plays a big part but when you been in the league since 2009 and never have been a full time starter you jump at any opportunity to come your way

He got $6.5 'opportunities' a year. Tells me all I need to know.

As I said before, I expected someone to overpay him more than what we would pay to keep Free.

Even @xwalker can't defend this move for the Jaguars.

Look at the bright side. If we don't sign anyone in FA, maybe Parnell brings us a 5th round compensitory pick.

Both have to good now,if you RT can't handle premier rushers then you are really hampered on offense.

Thing is most RT will not face a lot of primer pass rusher which is why LT is paid a lot more than any other OL position. Tyron Smith is locked in place at a big contract as our LT, he protects the backside of the QB where he often can't see pressure coming and where defense puts their best rusher

what that Jacksonville overpays and that is why they suck? lol Parnell has yet to beat out Free, he took over after Free was injured but has never won the job. He has been in the league since 2009 cut twice by the saints, released by the dolphins and since 2010 has been with Dallas and has never won the job. If he is that great he would have won it by now.

So far, so good with the Cowboy FO this offseason.
I'm sure they'll have some setbacks, but I'm okay with how things are going down all around the league so far.

And yes, if an OT presents good value at some point in the draft, why not take him.

Let's be clear. They paid a guy top tier RT money who is going to be 29 years old this season and has 7 NFL starts.

Well said indeed sir. Also Free is a 3 million cap hit in 2015 and the last year of the contract (3 years) is backloaded so his contract is more like a two year deal for Cowboys.

Exactly. Parnell's status and Jacksonville's stockpile of cash and desperation added up to a pretty good player getting paid pretty great money. Good for him, but this won't help a bad team become a good one.

Dallas was smart in making the decision to keep Free and let someone else overpay for Parnell.

Well, it shows what the Jags think of him.

Speaks more about the cap room they have, the supply/demand for OTs and how poorly they think of incumbents.

Outside of Bulaga, there is nothing there. That immediately makes even a mediocre player with limited starting experience that much more desirable on the open market.
