I've seen some mocks with Cedric Ogbuehi being available in the late second to third round. I'd take him there.
I also like Jake Fisher but think he'll be gone early in the second round.
The formula depends on who the Cowboys add.
Maybe he will have a better chance to beat out the starter there.
He had every chance to beat out Free here and he could not do it no matter how much some fan(s) complained.
He got $6.5 'opportunities' a year. Tells me all I need to know.
As I said before, I expected someone to overpay him more than what we would pay to keep Free.
Even @xwalker can't defend this move for the Jaguars.
Speaks more about the cap room they have, the supply/demand for OTs and how poorly they think of incumbents.
Outside of Bulaga, there is nothing there. That immediately makes even a mediocre player with limited starting experience that much more desirable on the open market.

There are a few teams (Ravens, for example) that make a point of not signing any free agents, but rather players cut by other teams. Plus, they let players play out their contracts and sign elsewhere (Torrey Smith, for example). This maximizes their compensatory pick potential. It's an interesting strategy.Look at the bright side. If we don't sign anyone in FA, maybe Parnell brings us a 5th round compensitory pick.
I think Chip Kelly will plant his flag with Jake Fisher, provided that he doesn't go Mike Ditka in trading for Mariota. After all, he wears the right uniform.
Exactly. Parnell's status and Jacksonville's stockpile of cash and desperation added up to a pretty good player getting paid pretty great money. Good for him, but this won't help a bad team become a good one.
Dallas was smart in making the decision to keep Free and let someone else overpay for Parnell.
.
I don't think it was because Free was that much better than Parnell, Remember Parnell got hurt in training camp the year he was supposed to really challenge Free for the job. That was the year Jerry was trying to move Free to guard and he probably would have if Parnell didn't get hurt. Parnell was set to take the right Tackle job for sure.
In this market that appears to be a bargain. If an aging player (Free) with 2 ankle surgeries in a 1 year time span can get 5M per, then Parnell is easily worth 6.5M. By the end of 2015 there will be no question about who is the better player; although, Parnell won't get national recognition playing in Jax.
Also, Parnell can play LT whereas Free was a disaster at LT.

The key figure is the guaranteed money
Free only got 6M
Not sure what Parnell got...I'd guess somewhere around 10-12
Shows how much more Dallas thinks of Free than Parnell
Havenstein and Free have something in common - both lack strength. 16 reps as an OT?
