Parsons is going to be too costly for some fans here. I’ve already seen several wanting to know what they think his trade value would be. You have fans here that don’t want to pay anyone. They don’t want players to get too good or they’ll be too costly to re-sign. Lol

I know there were a few that were pining for Micah from the get-go, but the one I truly remember (and he was thorough on his thoughts about it) was @AsthmaField .
He was almost begging for Micah, but with the caveat that they play him the right way, and he detailed how.
And they did it all exactly how he called it to the results we now see.
The stars really aligned on that one.
I dint recall where I stood on Parsons at the time of the draft but I can tell you the first time I saw a highlight reel on Parsons I was open minded but not expecting to be wowed. I watched it and after seeing it I said to myself “If this cat can duplicate what he is did in college he is a top 5 pick based on his ability to get to the QB.”

I have never seen a player get through a non-existent hole in the line like Parsons can. That dude is a flat out beast. I have my fingers crossed on Parsons staying healthy.

He fell because of taking the season off and the controversy over hazing. Otherwise he totally was projected top 5. At least that's what my bad memory remembers
It’s possible I remember that stuff being mentioned but linebackers typically go later in the first.

The biggest mistake was people not being able to project his pass rush ability. When he was coming out I thought he would be elite as a 3-4 OLB and my comp for him was Von Miller. But him playing off ball at Penn State made it hard for people to project that.

Luckily for the cowboys. If Penn State would have played him at edge. He would have been a top 5 pick easily.
Oh for sure. His pass rushing easily would’ve got him higher….possibly Atlanta or Panthers.

There is a point that every player “becomes too costly” in terms of the cap. That is just reality.

Parsons’ cap number is very very high in what you are willing to pay to keep him around, but you have to be realistic and weigh opportunity cost.

Would you pay $30m per year to keep parsons, or let him walk for two first round picks? Which is better for your team over the long haul? Will Parsons stay healthy? Where would those two picks be in the draft? You could get two really good players for two top 10 picks.

I bet you were watching the Cotton bowl highlights from when Penn State played Memphis.

Parsons was incredible in that game. He had a seasons worth of highlights in 4 quarters.

Possibly so. I just remember thinking man, this guy is special.

He is special. He literally moves like a cornerback at 245 pounds. He scares the **** out of OL. I honestly felt sorry for La’El Collins last season. Micah had that guy turned all around. On one Rush, Collins had his back to Parsons and looked like he was actually blocking for him.

He just finds his way to the QB.

Right but there is no way to tell. If you use exclusive tag and shop him around you damage relationships and if non exclusive you are exposing yourself to someone possibly paying even more than you'd have to and the pick being late in the round.

I agree with you in principle.

When you see how many Cowboys fans are turning on Micah and yet continue to embrace Dak, once again you have to come to the conclusion we are getting exactly what we deserve in terms of results.

Some people see a guy like Parsons and think "Herschel Walker trade: Part 2".
