It was fun engaging with someone with a low football IQ though and I did learn plenty from you in terms of how people with a low football IQ think.
You getting personal so quick proves you just have a low IQ football or not ....... and no case in defending Parsons ...... sad, Parsons deserves better.

Then you want a player on defense that does not exist on any team currently as there is not a single team in the NFL that has a player that when facing playoff level competition can produce without any real supporting cast. That is what your standard is though. Any good team will be able to take away your teams best pass rusher. The reason that still makes them a good investment is that the resources they are putting into doing that opens up opportunities for the rest of the defense to shine. The problem is if the rest of your defense is filled with holes then what it means is that the offense going to win their matchups and dominate.
+1.....good post
Good example ........Deion who is arguably one of the greatest defensive players ever led the Falcons to only 1 playoff game his first 5 years in the league. Hell, even DWare, as great as his Cowboy career was, he didn't get a Super Bowl until he with Vonn Miller/Denver Broncos.

Draft and Atlanta Falcons (1989–1993)[edit]

At the 1989 NFL Scouting Combine, Sanders ran a 4.27 and 4.29[31] second 40-yard dash. He was the fifth pick overall in the 1989 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons,[32] where he played until 1993. Despite fumbling (and recovering) his first NFL punt return (which was re-kicked on a penalty), Sanders ran for a touchdown on his second attempt of his first game. During his time in Atlanta, he intercepted 24 passes (including a career-high seven in 1993), three of which he returned for touchdowns. In 1992, he also led the league in kickoff return yards (1,067), yards per return (26.7) and return touchdowns (two). On October 11, 1992, Sanders played in a Falcons game in Miami and then flew to Pittsburgh, hoping to play in the Braves' League Championship Series game against the Pirates that evening and become the first athlete to play in two professional leagues in the same day.[14] Sanders, however did not appear in the baseball game that night.[14][33] During his five years playing with the Falcons, Sanders scored 10 touchdowns (three defensive, three kick returns, two punt returns, and two receptions

I would argue we have 5-6 top positional players and can't get past a 1st round playoff game........something is wrong
  • Diggs
  • Parsons
  • Tyler
  • Martin
  • CeeDee
  • Bland
  • Dak ( I know ???? )
Culture.

The owners, front office, and players celebrated making the playoffs like it was their goal. Ownership sets the tone, $ is all they care about and it's reflected by the players.

..lol.. .yep. Then in comparison you see those teams that have one or two top playing players.

And they are getting far in the playoffs. Something is really wrong.

He's going to have to learn to learn to play in December and January.

He's spent by December 1st and ineffective.

You’re not wrong.

Think he gets worn down at seasons end.
one of the primary responsibilities of a position coach is to watch his players and if they are fading late in the season find out why. Quite often they get too many snaps. Same thing happened with Deware; too many snaps per game.

It's bound to happen ^^^^ and he'll talk about how motivated he is to get back on the field etc etc, meanwhile he'll podcast all day long on how teams are playing, and what players are doing wrong as if he's retired from the league!
You obviously don’t realize how many players have podcasts. And for the record, what exactly is wrong with that? Our fans are the worst. A generational player and fans are whining about his podcast.

Are you suggesting those are the only 2 conditions that warrant him getting paid?

How long have you been watching professional football?
No. That is not what I am suggesting.

Parsons is who he is, he is going to get double digit sacks and be an NFL leader in pressures and tackles for a loss. He just has a three season trend of fading late in the season, his numbers support this. He needs to be effective in the big games late in the season,

I agree with that part. I thought you were saying that he deserves to be paid if he becomes Super Bowl MVP...moreso than DPOY.

If this happens, we could be looking at $35-40M to sign him......

NFL Defensive Player of the Year Odds: Micah Parsons, Myles Garrett Headline Favorites to Win Award

Reed Wallach | 4 Hours Ago

The last few years have had some epic races for Defensive Player of the Year, and we should expect no different in 2024 with a host of pass rushers given a good shot to win the award.
Myles Garrett took home Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023, the leading man on the vaunted Browns defense, and he’s the second choice this season to repeat in 2024, behind last year's contender Micah Parsons of the Cowboys.
Those two are far from the only players at the top of the oddsboard. T.J. Watt, Nick Bosa, and Maxx Crosby are all at +1000 or short, making for five games at the top of the list with short odds.
Here’s the early odds for what’s expected to be a crowded race for DPOY this season.

2024 Defensive Player of the Year

Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook
  • Micah Parsons: +600
  • Myles Garrett: +650
  • T.J. Watt: +800
When i read the name Parsons i always think about pencils. Cant help, dont know why....

Well, I think that would be more valuable. I'm not saying he should be the equivalent of a Larry Brown for the whole season and then be the recipient of great opportunity in the SB.

No disrespect to Larry Brown because he did make those plays when he had to. However, I also believe that big contracts should go to the great players that make big plays in big games.

Parsons could get DPOY and then make no impactful plays in a playoff game that needed one from him. He's had one sack in four playoff games. I wouldn't be willing to pay him unless he made big plays in the games that define this team's history.

When you look back into the Cowboys championship history, we will see that the big games brought out the best in the Cowboys legendary players like Bob Lilly, Chuck Howley, Roger Staubach, Randy White Harvey Martin, Michel Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Jay Novacek, Charles Haley, etc.

So what I am saying is he doesn't just need to produce numbers which is what DPOY seems to require. He needs more of those sacks and pressures and tackles for losses to be in the elimination games.
