Dallas has admitted they settled for Parsons.

Heck they even traded back for him.

I know. They were going to
Force the pick at CB due to “need” thank god
The panthers and Broncos saved them from themselves.

Unfortunately for DWare he was a diamond amongst trash on our defense. The drop off between his sack numbers and the other players was huge. As great as DWare was we never had a great defense with him. He helped the Broncos win a championship because they had other pieces to complement him. If we can continue putting pieces around Parsons we could build a great defense.

exactly. Micah is a keystone player. He is the foundational piece.

it’s up to the FO to keep enough talent around him though.

He is better than Ware.

Parsons has better instincts as a linebacker, he is better at defending passes, he is far more versatile. Parsons is a better leader now.

That is candor, not disrespect. Ware was a fantastic pass rusher but had to learn along the way how to be a linebacker. For years, Ware could be a liability in run defense because he could be easily tricked. He overcame that eventually but Parsons comes to us as a true linebacker who can also play defensive end. .

Parsons is the best defensive player drafted by the Cowboys since Randy White.

We have Trevon Diggs. Osa has shown flashes. Gallimore was having a great training camp, he has a chance to develop into something. I’m just hoping we can get Gregory, DLaw and Gallimore on the field at the same time this season. That could really help us make a strong run in the playoffs. Our defense is going to be the key to making a great playoff run.

This dude is on pace to be something more special than DWare, he’s got potential to be up there with Lawrence Taylor in my eyes and ironically they’re the same exact height and weight (when Taylor played), but Micah is a little faster!

Football is football...Parsons didn't even play last year....what's the fixation on Ware....he was a great pass rusher bit anyone with an objective set of eyes can see that Parsons is much better and more versatile at this stage of their careers

Thinks fans forget......as greatest as DWare was, he struggled as 4-3 DE ( see 2013, his final year as a Cowboy )

And Micah wasn;'t even the guy the Cowboys targeted early on in the NFL draft .. in spite their insistence that he was the best defensive player in the draft.

Lawrence Taylor? The defensive GOAT? That would be nice, but come on now, as Belichick would say, "nobody is in LT's class".

That particular defensive draft was wasted because the Cowboys switched from a traditional 3-4 under Parcells to a Phillips 3-4 that was basically a 4-3 out of position. Everybody knew that Ware the linebacker was going to rush the passer and a traditional 3-4 relies on the element of surprise. The 4th pass rusher is typically a mystery and that is what makes things uncomfortable for an opponent offensive line.

A traditional 3-4 has DE's that are more like DT's. They do not get impressive numbers. Their job is to keep the linemen occupied and let the LBers make the plays. They wasted Ratliff at NT, wore him out. He should have been a DE while the NT is typically as widebody who just gets in the way and forces RB's to detour. Jason Ferguson filled that role for Parcells.

Both Spears and Canty were prototypical 3-4 DE's and Burnett had the speed required of a 3-4 LB.

Ware had 8 sacks in his rookies season. Parsons already has 6 and he isn't even a full time pass rusher.

He’s already ahead of the LT curve - he has more tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss than LT did 9 games into his career. I respect Bill and LT but this dude is the real deal as well.
