They are giving him a lot of plays off though. He just goes so hard on the plays he is out there.... That and letting 320lb OLmen bend him backward on multiple occasions per game!
Yes, why with his build it really is not ideal to have him fighting OL every play.

I must have watched his recovery/TD play about 10 times. It made me exhausted just watching it. His level of play (while injured, I might add) is just unmatched.

- It's up to Quinn to devise where he's Not going up against 340 lbs OTs on an every down basis. We don't want those bulky boys going forward on Parsons on the edges,
We want those big boys having to peel back and go backwards against Parsons, where their full massive weight is Not pressing on him, as it will be on running plays.

- This is where Quinn's hybrid and Leo role sets, packages and schemes come to better help Parsons, imo. .
Also again, what further helps take the toll off Parsons is his supporting cast (Fowler, Williams, Armstrong) -where it allows Micah a series of relief breathers. to where it's not
a massive step off.

- Ironically DLaw is not a particular big edge guy himself at 265+ and he's still taking on 330+ RTs

Parsons is not really built to play DE. Yes, he does so at a high level.

265 is prototypical for a DE.

I usually hate the bye weeks. But this time is cam at the right time.
They last 3 games it seems Micah has been getting gassed. But he it one of those rare players, that can still reach down inside and muster the strength and energy to keep going at a high level.
And that inspires the rest of the team to also give it that extra effort.

And that is the makings of a championship caliber defense, and team.

Get these players rested up, and all their injuries no matter how big or small healed. I wan them ready and hungry to feast on AR and the cheese heads, then the rest of the teams on the schedule.

I think the Micah "OMG he is out of the game" stuff is overblown.

He isn't playing MLB anymore. He needs to come off the field for his own safety, longevity and production. I don't know that many players in the league never come off the field at DE. It is a strategy as well. Keep him off the field and use him on key 3rd downs when he is fresh.

I looked at Bosa on SF yesterday, he played 83% of the plays....Micah played 72%.

Not a huge difference.

I think Parsons is dinged up but not worn out. The coaching actually gives him a ton of rest. He’s on the sidelines a lot times for prolonged stretches.

This bye came at a great time.

Parsons just needs a couple of weeks resting up, hopefully those nagging injuries heal up.

Didn't help that the defense was on the field a lot yesterday to the tune of 36 minutes. That's what happens when the opponent runs the ball and runs it effectively, but a ton of guys were gassed, Micah just got all the camera shots.

Agree that the bye came at a good time to get some guys healed up a bit more the second half.

He’s a young tough highly motivated athlete that doesn’t have a lot of mileage on him...
He’ll be fine after the bye.....

Talk about expectations when you can make a play like you did yesterday for a touchdown and people are concerned about you

I feel certain he took on a slightly bigger load this week with Williams out.

Other than the refs letting 11 get molested on every play, he's fine. Game changer. Teams plan around him in abject fear.

The Cowboys need to just read the situation. Yesterday in a game that seemed as if we were just the out right superior team, play him at linebacker and as a spy. He doesn't need to be getting beat up in a game that the other team is clearly worse. This bye week really did come at a good time for this team.

Yes they have been resting him but he still was in on over 65% of the defensive snaps too - he is banged up but he is also getting gassed as most premium players do that are constantly double and triple teamed as well as held , tackled , thrown to the ground by his face mask etc
The NFL needs to address the way defensive players are constantly cheated against but oh well I digress

Any player with his workload would be facing problems staying healthy. Not a bad idea limiting his practice reps.

Unlike other linebackers, he is unprotected from the big bodies when he’s on the line. On every play he has to fight through a bigger body, and now it’s double-teams so it’s two bigger bodies. Plus, he is getting chip blocked so in addition he gets hit with blocks from rb’s and te’s. And, some teams will run right at him now to neutralize him. Man, thats a lot of punishment for even a lineman, never mind a linebacker. The physics of it make it inevitable that he will break down eventually playing on the line. They need to adjust something.

I think it’s a mistake to line him up repeatedly at DE. He is an amazing athlete— but he is giving up 75lbs to most OTs and is taking a beating.

I’d love to see him blitzing more off the edge as a LBer, or up tha A gap, and drop him off in coverage on occasion just to confuse the offense.

Right now— he is predominantly deployed as a DE which while effective, is predictable, and leading to more wear and tear.

Time to shake things back up and get creative. Deploy him all over the field and let some other guys like Fowler and Williams rush more from RDE

The bye came at the perfect time here. It’s also a good time to start mixing it up with him again, meaning more blitzes up middle and more LB play IMO. I like when he gets moved all over.
Agreed. And we have the horses to do so, DLaw and Dorance at End. Parsons, LVE, Kearse at LB
