After all these decades of info and warnings about drinking and driving, people still do it.
I can pretty much guarantee that someone here will post the claim that everyone does it; then you will have some that said they did it a lot
Some claiming hey a couple of beers are no problem
might even have one that claims he drives better drunk than sober

But then look at how many people still smoke?

SO many others whine about you should not put people in prison for a disease
I SAY if you can decide to not drink and do that then its NOT a disease

same with drugs
if a person can decide to kick drugs and does it, that is NOT a disease

if someone is convicted of driving drunk a third time, put them in jail for ten years
THAT WAY no innocent person will be injured by them
AND in the end THAT is what is important; protect the innocent
Just like violent criminals; lock them up and throw away the key because that is the only sure way to protect the innocent
all those whining and crying about poor criminals do NOT CARE ABOUT THE INNOCENT VICTIMS

I now get off my soap box

If some bozo claims everyone does it, they're wrong. I've never driven drunk. It's not that I'm Mr. Perfect. I've made plenty of mistakes. It's just that I've known about the problems caused by drunk driving, and I decided long ago I didn't want that. It is legal to drive if you have a .08 alcohol reading in one of those tests. So, in theory, someone could have a small amount of alcohol and then do the calculations to make sure they're .08 or less and then go driving. You could even own one of those blow test things and check yourself. However, I decided long ago, I didn't want to fool with that. So if I went out and planned to drive home, I simply would not drink at all. Nowadays, I don't consume any alcohol at all ever. Maybe some people think what I'm doing is really hard. It's not. If for some reason, I did want to go out and drink, I would either take an Uber or some other kind of taxi home, or I would go out in a group that has one designated driver. You could even get a hotel room, and drink in the hotel's bar, so you can just walk back to your room. But, you're right. There are still people who think it's okay to go out drinking and then drive home. They're just not being very smart.

I reserve judgement until there's video.
If he looks like Terrance Williams on a scooter,
sure, throw the book at him.

He’s innocent until proven guilty, but cmon. He should be in prison.

I'd need more info before condemning him to prison
alongside rapists and murders and such. A 60 day sentence in a detention center and revoked license should do the trick.

This will be his third conviction. He’s essentially committed attempted manslaughter every time he drives drunk. I have no sympathy.

Attempted manslaughter.
Is that like thought crimes?

I'm not aware of drunk drivers sentenced to prison
unless their actions have killed someone. Did he
even hit anything? I mean, the dude could've been
pulled over for a minor traffic violation and smelled
like alcohol. Like I said before, more info is needed
before I throw the book. To be clear, I'm not condoning it.

So he has to kill someone first? Does that mean we shouldn't jail someone firing a gun randomly around town as long as they don't hit anyone?

To go to prison for a DWI, yes.
There's jail and there's prison. They are very different.

If this is, in fact, his third offense, his license should
be revoked. I also stated he should get 60 days in a
detention center (jail). In my state he'd get up to 3 years for the 3rd offense.. What more do you want?

Jails are temporary, usually less than a year. So in your state, he would go to prison for this. It looks like he’s facing 10 years. That seems reasonable to me. He has no regard for the safety of others.

Wow. I admit I was surprised to see a 3 year max. sentence in my state. So many "get off" with much less here. It's basically revolving door.

I wonder if he'll do one day in lock-up.

Still, 10 years seems pretty steep if no damage or harm was done. Jmo.
To me, what his youngest boy did was much worse.

His two previous DWI charges were in 1994
and 2018 where he served 40 days in county jail.

He was charged with public intoxication in 2016
at his son's game.

Alright @CyberB0b, I just read the report.
No excuse for having an open container.
He was literally seen drinking and driving.

Also, I'm seeing a DWI charge in 2008 in South Dakota.

Dude has a problem. Maybe he can bunk with his
youngest boy in Gen Pop.

the real problem are those that keep driving even after losing their license. To me if you are caught doing that it should be at least ten years and no parole
For those making light of drinking and driving and its ok if no one is hurt THIS time, what about NEXT time?
At what point do we stop worrying about HIS rights and and be MORE WORRIED about the right of the people to be protected from him?
