The money is the guarantee. More than any words. For the money he was offered, he would have been Carr's replacement. I think that's pretty easy to see.

That's not really a significant contract for a boundry corner. I don't think it was much of a guarantee at all.

If this team isn't paying as much or more than the next team, they're not getting the player.

When has anyone ever said "I'll take less to sign with these glorious Cowboys"? I'm just not sure what's been lost - this is and always will be a business to these guys, bottom line.

Last year. Murray would have taken less money to stay than go to Philadelphia.

What I wonder is, what happened to negotiating? Do these guys not give other teams a chance to match/beat anymore? If it was the money, wouldn't it have made sense to come back to the Cowboys and give them a chance to up their ante? Are the Cowboys drawing a line in the sand during negotiations and saying they won't give a penny more?

Like Romo, Witten, and Tyron Smith did when they signed their deals? Our own players seem to like the culture here and do take below market deals to stay, but we are talking about a pure FA, no? You're also now basically saying then we've lost our FA allure mojo in one year.

More I'm saying the same thing you did above. Outside free agents don't care about the Dallas Cowboys franchise one way or another. We're just another team.

Your anger at missing this signing is impressive. It's flowing like hate through a Sith Lord.

The last time I got angry about something my favorite sports team did or didn't do, I was in middle school.

I'm having a great time, it's all entertainment. But if I had to choose between anger and "Meh.", I'd chose anger. At least then I'm getting some sort of entertainment out of it.

You mean that the money Dallas and Philadelphia was offering was close to the same amount? Is that the case you'd like to make? Just say so.

You said he would have stayed here for less money. You didn't set a threshold. Did you mean, "very close to the same, but less"?

Kid used us for leverage. Dont blame him but this happens way too much that a guy isnt getting what he wants out in the open market so he schedules a meeting with the Cowboys the most visable team in the league, just to see if any other team will jump in his mix. Not saying we cant just be outbid, but this kinda postering is embarasing to everyone involved.

David Moore was on the ticket earlier this week and that's exactly what he said, they have put a price on a guy and if they want more they aren't going above the price point they've set

I meant in the same ballpark. Close. The deal he got from Philadelphia blew the Cowboys' offer out of the water. It was obviously a mistake and the Cowboys made the right decision, but Murray clearly wanted to stay in Dallas and gave this team every right to match. Staying in Dallas with this team meant something to him too. Outside free agents don't care one way or the other.

The Cowboys are just another team.

Well, like it or not, that perfectly explains what has transpired in FA.

The way I remember it, he jumped ship as soon as Philly threw that huge contract out there. I don't remember him coming back to Dallas and making any such remarks until after he signed his deal.

I agree with your "Cowboys are just another team" statement.

I wonder if this 4-12 bunch with little track record of success can afford to act this way?

I doubt anyone is embarrassed, but we clearly had genuine interest.

You must have a much higher view of Patrick Robinson than I do. Instead of focusing on the need, let me ask you: Do you think we can find a Patrick Robinson in the draft in rounds 3-7 + undrafted FAs?

Considering the last time we found a bona fide starter past the 3rd round was 2008, no, not really.
