They probably drag this out till after the season and then decide/sweep it under the rug.

It seems like this has been an ongoing problem, not a one time incident. The league has finally caught them red-handed. There is no telling how long this has been going on. It sheds a new light on the Patriots and is a dark moment for the NFL. Seriously, how many times did they cheat to beat the Colts or any other team for that matter?

The NFL needs too come down hard on this circumstance. Belicheck should be suspended for a year. The Pats as an organization should give up several top draft choices. The game itself should be forfeited.

On the radio frequencies, were the Pats intercepting the Jets signals?

The game was played in the Meadowlands, so that would be a good feat to intercept the Jets frequencies. Not impossible, but easier to do in your own stadium.

I think the punishment will be loss of low round draft picks and/or they won't gain any compensatory picks for any lost free agents as well as a fine that does not relate to their salary cap. That is what I think they will get, not what I think they should get. I haven't quite made up my mind what is a deserving punishment, but I don't think it should be a first rounder or anything that severe. That is based on what little is known now. I look forward to more info coming out.

Who knows, with Roger living in New York his whole life and serving as president of the AFC, maybe he's a slight Jets fan and come down really hard on New England.

that is a completely ridiculous idea, what did the jets do to gain such an advantage...come on i can see giving the jets a win but giving them an advantage that will last for 10+ years possibly?...no not going to happen.

Exactly... too much gain for Jets and not enough loss for Pats....

I say the win for the Pats doesnt count. Thats fair and they will never pull that "stuff" again

Could suspend Kraft for a year to remind owners that they are ultimately responsible.

That is an interesting idea. How would a suspension of an owner work or get enforced? Would he be allowed to attend games?

Maybe they can suspend Jerry at draft time. :lmao:

103.3 just said that Goodell actually warned teams against this over the offseason. Seems he'd heard the rumors and told teams they'd better stop.

So the punishment needs to be severe.

Denver won Two Super bowls and were busted on Salary cap cheating and I believe they forfeited a 4th rounder.

All teams try and do this, its a chess match and just like baseball you are always going to have guys trying to crack the signs.

Pats were just brazen and stupid about how they did it and got caught. Heck they messed with their field for years to gain a competitive advantage.

They are guilty and will pay a price. But if its a mid round draft pick its nothing to Pats. Their roster is so loaded its hard for those picks to make roster and they have 2 #1's.

There is a lot of real personal stuff going on here between Mangini and BB - JMO. I read BB wouldn't even let Eric back in to retrieve personal stuff.

The current NFL would never under any circumstance issue a post-game forfeit.

There's that 800 lb gorilla of gambling that the NFL realizes it its lifeblood but won't publicly acknowledge. The Patriots covered and those that bet on them were paid. Could you imagine all those who bet on the Jets now demanding their money.

Cheating = chess match?

It is when you switch your pieces while the other guy is looking away maybe.

they at the very least should have to forfeit a 2nd and 4th rd pick!!! i would go as far as changing that 2nd rd pick to a 1st rd pick but i doubt the NFL's darlings will get punished that bad...

I think the punishment should be severe. They should forfeit multiple draft picks and be declared ineligible for the playoffs this season. From the reports, this incident isn't their first offense.
And to be honest, who knows how long they've been doing this but hasn't been caught.

I can go undefeated if I know what your defense is going to run, and shut you down if I know what your offense is about to do.

This is bad!

It will be interesting to see what Goodell does,,, when the Broncos and Niners got busted for cheating(which occurred DURING their championship seasons) they got the proverbial slap on the wrist and the sports world quckly let it go... if you're the media darlings, the NFL doesn't want you tarnished.

Maybe Goodell is different, he should ask Belichick point blank "How long has this been going on?" and if the investigation shows that Belichick lied there should be massive punishment!

Just in,
They got caught and are guilty. Will lose a draft pick or two. Stupidity or brilliance?

BB does things for a reason. After warnings and NFL memo he was almost saying here I am doing it right in front of your face.

BB can already scheme opponents into the ground.

Was that because they had an elaborate scheme in place to on the fly decipher a sign, catch a sign going in and relay it to field and then to players on the field?

It's not that per say, I think they were looking for audible calls if going on. BB post game talking about how he knew what Mangini's defense would do if he did certain formations. These two each pretty much knows 100% of opponents system. Looking for that edge, and they crossed the line.

I wonder if it freaks opponents out now thinking Pats may have their plays figured out. I also remember Miami last year did this to Pats, didn't he rent a tape of Pats sideline and it was widely established Miami knew Brady's audibles in one of the games.

this will pass

The pessimist in me thinks that the Pats will get a slap on the wrist and lose a 6th round pick or something close to that.
However, Goodell has been dropping the hammer on players so hopefully he steps up here and does something to send a strong statement, particlularly since the Pats have been caught time and time again.
He opened his mouth about Wade Wilson, so I think he's painted himself into a corner regarding the Pats. "Coaches have to be held to a higher standard".

Now we get to see where the rubber meets the road.

Could be highly revealing...
