I meant it hurts his leverage with the Pats now that they have signed Waddle. His better bet is probably to try and work something out with Dallas because he has more leverage with a team that has a hole to fill, plus he is likely to get a better chance to start with Dallas. I understand the Cowboys have restrictions, but they still have some maneuvering they could do. After all, they obviously felt they could make room for Sammy Watkins, and he would have been a lot more expensive than Flemming.

In my opinion, the only way they could have afforded Sammy Watkins was to open $8.5 million by dumping Dez Bryant. The Chiefs' offer was too rich for the Cowboys to match so they didn't have to make the move that would have blew up this forum.

Yes and they have some maneuvering they still need to do. Draftees aren't free. The allocation of cap money for the draft is roughly $7 mill and not accounted for yet. The only way they could have made a run at Watkins was to cut Dez. They tested the waters on what it would cost I'm sure. Signing Watkins and cutting Dez would just be a trade off looking att heir last two years. Actually not even, Dez has more TD's and impact in the red zone. Watkins was hugely over paid by the numbers he produced

I hope we work something out with Flemming. Probably a big improvement over Chaz at swing tackle. Possibly a starting RT. If he's as good or equal to Collins at RT, no brainer move Collins back to left guard. If he isn't leave Collins at RT and draft a G high in the draft. I'll leave that up to our O-line coordinator and draft gurus to decide

Flemming has also played guard in the NFL, so there might be flexibility there.

My thoughts as well. I think they got a a whiff of the scent Watkins agent was throwing off and it ended right there. They may have entertained the notion of cutting Dez if the numbers made sense. They didn't. We call our FO bad evaluaters of talent. Maybe so but they know a turkey when they smell one

Still wondering how a 6'6, 320 pound guy seemingly disappeared. Visited Monday and Tuesday and no information about him leaving or having another team lined up. Cam Fleming- the face on the milk carton?

Well thank God.

Must. Have. More. Position. Flex.

I don't know where people got the idea that being capable of playing multiple positions is a bad thing. It was big that coming out of college Martin was able to play guard instead of having to stick with OT, and it was big that Collins could play guard when Leary was out, then move to OT last year. And it's big to be able to put together a 53 man roster where all positions have adequate depth.

What's it going to be then, eh?

It is not a bad thing at all.

But when it overrides the thought process to where you factor it in too much, it becomes an issue honing in on what a player does best and letting him do it.

I think it may have overridden the thought process a little with Byron Jones, but I don't think it's been a constant issue. I think part of the reason it was with Jones is they also had stars in their eyes because of his combine showing.
