No question... He has sucked.

He looks like a huge mistake to me. Not only is he not a great talent, he also appears to me to be weak minded. Not the kind of guy who can handle playing in Philly where people actually care about the game.

"I have to find peace in my soul to play in this city."

Who says that? Has to be a guy who wants no part of the big city.

I know Flyers fans want to blame it on the owner, but if Snyder said get me a goaltender and Holmgren selected this guy, he needs to be fired at the end of the season if things continue like this. We could literally bring up the Phantoms goalie and get similar production.

He's an oddball.

But regardless, I was thinking the team was better than 5th in the conference or whatever it is.

The Flyers have had their crappy streak, and now the Bruins are reeling, let's see the Rangers come back to the pack and have the Flyers end the season on a high note.

I know your stance. I'm telling you you're wrong. Team defense is not the biggest weakness with the Flyers. Poor goaltending is.

I find it funny to read that I don't know what I'm watching from a guy who says his team plays no defense......and the reason we don't allow a lot of shots against is because our defensemen block so many.

L, O and L.

Im telling you it doesn't matter what you think, because you don't know what you're watching. We blocked alot of shots before we traded for those two D men. Blocking alot of shots = good defense to you and its just not that simple unfortunately. That's your entire argument, and its a laughable one.

As another poster has now tried to point out to you, we give up way too many quality chances. Point blank shots, opponents left wide open on the doorstep, 2 on 1's, etc..

If you don't see it, cool. Im not trying to argue at all, just saying i don't believe you are understanding what you're watching.

Its statements like this that form my opinion of your overall knowledge of hockey.

I'll care about that later.

The guy has destroyed the farm system. Which you must be unaware of. That alone would be a very good reason for firing him.

If all the moves he made last offseason don't pan out, he needs to go.

Yes. It's an anomaly, apparently. The Flyers block a ton of shots and are solidly in the top 10 in least shots allowed per game but don't play any defense.

It's an amazing one time occurrence in the history of hockey.

I don't expect anything. Another year with an empty net in the postseason.

Goaltenders are to the Flyers what Quarterbacks are to the Browns.

You're saying first, that he chose Bryz.. which we don't know to be true.

Second, that if he did choose Bryz, he should be fired, when anyone in the league would have liked to have Bryz based on his track record with his last franchise.

About the only thing i agree with you on is that we didn't need to go out and sign a high priced, big name goalie to a big, long term contract. We have already proven to be able to win with guys like Boucher and Leighton.. and even better than any of them, we already had a budding young, 22 year old star in Bobrovsky that just needs experience, but has all the skills to be great. It was completely unnecissary, but as Snyder said, it was his call to go out and bring in a top tier goaltender.. no matter what. That was stupid. I agree.

I didn't say he chose Bryz. I said if he chose him.

And I don't care whether anyone in the league would have wanted him. If that's true or not, I would say not, it doesn't absolve a GM from a horrific move.

So if he did choose Bryz and he doesn't come around this season, you combine that with the fact the Flyers now have one of the worst farm systems in all of hockey, which is a direct result of the GM's trading, and yes Holmgren should be immediately fired at the end of the year. You can not blow up your farm system as a GM unless it results in a Cup.

I don't know that I'd call Bobrovsky a star. Or even a star in the making. I think he could be that but he could just as easily level off and be another not good enough goalie in our system. He's regressed this year, if anything.

Nice being on the winning end of a 1-zip game.

It's pretty clear my stinging criticism has motivated him.

As Keith Jones said during the 2nd intermission, this is one of a handful of games this year where the goaltender has actually kept the team in the game.

Great performance. He faced a lot of shots tonight with Timonen and Meszaros being out.

If we went out and signed Drew Brees and he had a bad year next year, does that mean it was a horrific move? As if our GM had any idea that he would have such a down year after years of being a top tier player at his position? Baloney..

I said he has all the tools to be a star, and showed that last year. I wouldn't say he's regressing at all.. he only played one year in the league before this and he's not getting many consistant starts to develop any kind of rhythem. He certainly could've given us what the 9 year 51 million dollar 31 year old has given us so far, and much more in the long run.

It was simply an overreaction by a team owner who hopefully now realizes to keep his nose out of tying to make personel decisions.

Oh and of course i had to work last night so i didn't get to see the win. Must have been a good game though. Since you guys both saw it, i assume Lilja and Gustaffson both must have played pretty well?

He has always been a better goaltender when the pressure is on him to really steal a game. In Phoenix, with a bad team in front of him, he was the reason they had any success, and knew it, so his game improved.

I think I heard it somewhere on 24/7 that the team in front of him is so good that he doesn't feel nearly as much pressure night-in and night-out. Last night, where I assume he was under a lot of pressure (I didn't watch) he elevated his game. Whether he will do the same for the rest of the season is anybody's guess, but I think knowing that his performance determines whether or not the team will win or lose is really influential on his play.

Not really. The goalie stood on his head. Should have been about a 3-1 win for the Caps.

Eh. I really think some players just aren't capable of playing in the big city. New York, Philly....wherever the media attention is. That's my main worry with Bryzgalov. I know he's completely overpaid and we'll never live up to that contract but his first half season here is probably his worst stretch ever and I think a lot of that has to do with the pressure.

That is an accurate quote from 24/7 though. He said that in between incoherant ramblings about the solar system. Weird dude.

That's certainly a big part of it.

Plus the contract he signed set him for life. He's got a big-level of comfort.

He probably also saw all the talent around the room and thought that maybe he didn't have to be the entire team like he was out in Phoenix... Which caused him to take things a bit easier.

Very nice game by Bryz tonight. Defense looked a bit tighter as well, although still too many turnovers in our own zone. Gotta clean up the passing a bit. Loved seeing Bryz completely stone a couple of those *******s though. That hit was ridiculous. If there's no suspension for that im calling up the league office myself because the bias against the Flyers really showed through in that game. No penalty, not even a play stoppage.. yet 2 minutes later Hartsy puts a clean hit on a guy in the other end and gets a roughing call? Complete horsecrap.

We gave up like over 30 shots combined in the 2nd and 3rd periods. They are really missing Timonen and Meszaros.

I thought the Red Wings were clearly the better team and they were shorthanded last night. The goalie stole another one. Two in a row.
