Paxton Lynch/Connor Cook thread

What's the Connor Cook hate? Actually, what's with the Lynch love? Lynch has looked like trash in every game I've watched him in, I think Cook has things you can work with. Neither of them I would want to draft.

I haven't watched him beyond what you can find online but there is some appeal in seeing a guy with size, good mobility, and a strong arm. 6'7" and 244 at the combine and ran a 40 on par with the other QBs.

I'm not sure about Lynch because it seems like he's less refined than the others and I don't know what kind of time table he'd need to catch up.

I dunno what it is but I'm warming up to Cook. Something about a guy who has played in the cold.

With a 2nd round so full of talent, that'd be crushing.

But, remember, the Boys would have already picked one blue chipper at 4(hopefully), and, although I would rather have Lynch, if the Cowboy's organization believes Cook is a franchise QB, I'm okay with Cook at 34.

It seems both of them plus Hackenberg will go in the first round. Should push solid defensive linemen to us in the second. I'm worried there won't be any good QB's left for us to draft in the third, sorta what happened to us at RB last year.

If we want Lynch, Cook or Hackenberg, we're either going to have to trade down from #4 or trade up from #34.

We'd have to trade up from 34 for Cook or Hackenberg? Not sure I buy that.

I think it's highly unlikely that 5 QB's go in the first.

Jets, Arizona and Denver apparently want 1st round QB's.

Cook's accuracy's been awful in college. Sometimes he throws the ball amazing other times it's trash. I believe he completed like 55% in college which is awful nowadays. I do agree Lynch is more raw and probably needs more work. But he isn't nearly as flawed as Cook is.

Either take Lynch or skip taking a QB this year altogether. Stop messing around with middling/UDFA QBs. I think catching lightning in a bottle with Romo as an UDFA has really skewed the mindset about where top QB's come from with the Jones'. Yeah, yeah...Brady, Wilson, Brees, but two of those guys went outside of round 1 because of the concern of their height.

If you want to take a QB that you plan for making a franchise QB then, probably necessary to move up to 1st round
to hold onto him for 5th yr. option if he pans out. If planning to just take a backup to serve as a bridge then, wait till
the 4th round and take a Prescott. If he works great, if not, then no big loss.

Without Romo, the running game was far less effective, the passing game was non-existent, the defense was on the field far more, the opposing teams were never behind and took absolutely no chances. The turnovers dried up as a result, and the schedule was too tough to compete without the two best players on the team.

Take Rodgers, Nelson, and Hyde off the Packers. Same result.

Add Romo, Dez, Scandrick, Elliott, Thornton, and whatever else is added through the draft and beyond. Things can change in a jiffy.

Football isn't that hard to understand.

Romo isnt Rogers for sure and he is about 7 year younger and not injury prone. And they did lose Nelson. But yah, injuries count.

But you are forgetting our other issues. We have suspensions and we have one of the worst head coaches in the NFL. And the owner meddles and undermines him. Its not just the injuries.

If the Packers played the Cowboys schedule without Rodgers and Nelson, they would have gone 4-12.

Period.

And Romo is every bit the QB that Rodgers is, if not more. When healthy of course.

They played without Rogers and we had Romo and they beat us did they not a few years back with their backup?

You seriously want to compare that Cowboys team, with its gawd awful offensive line and worst defense in NFL history, to this offense?

My second choice was Ameer Abdullah of Nebraska. He hasn't done so well with the Lions. However, it's a situation similar to San Diego. The Lions have deep problems that cannot be solved with simply a good running back. Abdullah may also have done well behind the Cowboys' line.

There was a lot to like about Abdullah at Nebraska, however, he has small hands for a RB and has had a very tough time holding onto the ball both at Nebraska (23 fumbles) or his first year in Detroit (4 fumbles in limited carries).

Dont like Lynch - another Dan McGuire.

As Goff and Wentz wil be gone, I think we should use 2 later round picks on QBs e.g. 4th and 6th. One who played a pro style offense in college and can step in and function quite quickly if (when) Romo goes down. Other should be the rough diamond type with a potential high ceiling. Lets bring some youthful energy and competition to the QB position. Let the two young QBs duke it out in practice over the next year or so.

If all we get is a good backup who'll be on the roster for the next 10 years then it would be worthwhile. Things go well, one could develop into a starter.

I'd still plan on taking a QB in round 1 in 2017, but may change my mind if one of these young QBs looks good.

QB is the most important position and we need to start investing in the position.

I think its a great comparison. We were throwing the ball all over the place with no run game. Defense was pretty much about equal. Cant even decide which one was worse. We had a great run game in 2014 and no run game prior. Both teams had Romo and a great passing attack. Other than the run game, it was pretty much apples to apples. Same coach. 8-8 with no run game, 12-4 with dominant run game. Its not always that simple, but its speaks to me.
