And I'm going to tell you right now. He's just getting started.

This guy has NFL talent. And he's going to be a surprise at the end of the year, and later on in his career people will never know he was an UDFA.

Guy has sure hands. And after those three drops by Lamb and Brown, they went to Hendershot who catches everything.

After that, the rest of the team started getting their act together.

It was nice to see from our rookies out there. Ferguson, too.

He also had two bad penalties and failed to stay in bounds at the end of the game when we needed him to.

Like the kid thus far, but gotta take the good with the bad.

1. He did indeed jump offsides.
2. The holding call was awful. Even worse than the call on Farniok earlier.
3. That was Ferguson not Hendershot who went out of bounce when he should have stayed in.

The 2 Rookie TEs are our future
I don't see Shultz getting resigned.

we have a couple good kids coming up that might allow us to let Shultz walk and save some money - tough and can catch and block

Its mind boggling . . . With Rookie Free Agents He is a Genius . . . The second round of the Draft . . . Not so much
Right. The rest of the front office makes the draft picks and Jerry/Stephen finds the UDFA gems. With that system we'd be in the super bowl.

Meanwhile, Jake Ferguson was cited as having some great blocks.

Schultz is not going to get paid. Why should he? He was the recipient of a system that favors TE's getting their stats if they can run routes.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy but this is about reality in the form of a salary cap.

Schultz did everything right in terms of his perseverance, study, practice, attitude and hard work in general. However, he is not a physical athletic specimen that strongly impacts the game and gameplans. He's pretty much reached his ceiling in terms of potential and the Cowboys should have two Dalton Schultz's around midway through next season if not earlier.

Jerry has zero to do with scouting and evaluating talent and determining who the real players are. Stephen even less.

However, he is responsible for making strategical decisions once he's been told what to think of players by the actual experts that know. Jerry is the guy that likes to get cute with the 2nd round picks. he likes to draft physical "freaks" like Bruce Carter. He likes the broken college stars that could have been a great player were it not for devastating injury. He likes the players with baggage. They would have been a 1st round pick, except for.....

Jerry never considers that the "except for...." is a red flag that may not come to fruition every time, but enough times to were intelligent GM's stay away.

You're right. My post was primarily to be humorous, poking fun at out UDFA gems and 2nd round fails. But you're right overall. I wish Jerry would change his fixation of injured/baggage great college players from the 2nd round and just look for those in UDFAs.

Hendershot is a perfect example. With his rap sheet I would have been skeptical and irritated we spent a draft pick on him. No draft capital means minimum risk. So we need more Hendershots and less Kelvin Joseph and Josh Ball.

Kelvin Joseph was in for 1 meaningful play on monday and got a 15 yard facemask penalty against him to keep the Giants drive going in their attempted comeback, 2nd round pick. Hendershot caught passes and moved the chains and helped us score points, UDFA. Someone please Jerry to listen to the "except he..." comments and then shoot for those guys in UDFA.

I don't think Brown had a drop. They were too busy mugging him.

Hendershot reminds me of a healthy Jarwin athletically. He's got good hands too, I don't doubt that he can do more in the passing game than Dalton Schultz. It will all come down to consistency.

Don’t worry once Dak gets back there will be a consistent 5-8 yard pass to any tight end of choice during prevent defenses. Dak and Shultz made/make a lot of bread on that.

Schultz is still better but no way he gets something long term. Never been a fan of his and honestly If Jarwin never got hurt he probably would’ve been gone.
TE's like Schultz are a dime a dozen in the NFL right now. Every team in the league has a couple of him on their roster. Schultz might be the better of our 3 (although my money is on Fergie as the best all around TE on the team) but they are all interchangeable. You're not going to lose much with any of them, and the other 2 are probably better blockers just by default. You're right, Schultzy is gone after this year.

Yeah I think just being a veteran gives him a slight edge…..but yeah no way would I bring him back. I like the upside of both of the rookies over Schultz.

Y’all keep saying this but Coop and Lamb for more targets than Schultz.
