And I'm going to tell you right now. He's just getting started.

This guy has NFL talent. And he's going to be a surprise at the end of the year, and later on in his career people will never know he was an UDFA.

Guy has sure hands. And after those three drops by Lamb and Brown, they went to Hendershot who catches everything.

After that, the rest of the team started getting their act together.

It was nice to see from our rookies out there. Ferguson, too.
I really like this kid
He’s more athletic than I expected and he plays with a bit of attitude
We’ve had success developing TE’s and this scheme is TE friendly but he’s a guy I think you can use down the seam some

TE's like Schultz are a dime a dozen in the NFL right now. Every team in the league has a couple of him on their roster. Schultz might be the better of our 3 (although my money is on Fergie as the best all around TE on the team) but they are all interchangeable. You're not going to lose much with any of them, and the other 2 are probably better blockers just by default. You're right, Schultzy is gone after this year.
TE like Schultz aren’t a dime a dozen and that’s why he’s gonna get a big contract
He was a top 5 TE in production last year
I wouldn’t sign him to a second contract because you have options but that doesn’t mean he’s a dime a dozen player or everyone would have his production

That wasn’t him that went out of bounds
so if you watch the play his momentum carried him that way with the leap and he couldn't stop himself, not like he jogged and just RAN out of bounds. If memory serves me he leaped to get more yards and it carried him out of bounds.

it was 3rd and 7 went back and watched he tried for the first by leaping and got PUSHED out of bounds. not his fault , furgy was trying to END the game with leap for the last 2 yards

He wouldn't have been a UDFA if he wasnt such a domestic violence enthusiast

Someone should have reminded him not to go out of bounds! I couldn't believe what I was watching, that play could have been real costly...........

We'll see, I don't see him getting a big contract anywhere.

I agree, the throw should have been more inside.

But Rush gets rid of the ball so quickly that he may have seen something in coverage that required him him to throw it like that.

I'm sure Hendershot was kicking himself for leaping toward sideline instead of just going down.

He was trying hard to gain as many yards as possible instead of milking clock.

He's a rook, he'll improve on this.

I think his production was more so because of Dak then skill. I think he’s Hunter Henry type.

Hopefully he continues to develop. He's the most fluid athlete they've had at the position in a while.

Hendershot needs to cool it with the jumping/leaping. It's ok once and a while but it does lead to fumbles. When a player leaps like that it tends to get the arm away from the body to secure the ball and is easier to punch out hence why there are a lot of fumbles in 1 yard situations when a player leaps/dives.

Nope, I totally disagree with your ignorant assessment! We the Boys huddled up, Rush should have reminded everyone to stay in bounds if a first down isn't in reach. Yeah, this rook wanted to be a hero, but could have ended up being a zero..........................

You're right. My post was primarily to be humorous, poking fun at out UDFA gems and 2nd round fails. But you're right overall. I wish Jerry would change his fixation of injured/baggage great college players from the 2nd round and just look for those in UDFAs.

Hendershot is a perfect example. With his rap sheet I would have been skeptical and irritated we spent a draft pick on him. No draft capital means minimum risk. So we need more Hendershots and less Kelvin Joseph and Josh Ball.

Kelvin Joseph was in for 1 meaningful play on monday and got a 15 yard facemask penalty against him to keep the Giants drive going in their attempted comeback, 2nd round pick. Hendershot caught passes and moved the chains and helped us score points, UDFA. Someone please Jerry to listen to the "except he..." comments and then shoot for those guys in UDFA.
Absolutely agree.

Besides, what message does that send to a player when you draft them in the 2nd round while knowing they have issues? In effect, isn't Jerry telling them that their issues are acceptable, not that big a deal? You are still going to pay them millions of dollars.

If they are UDFA then it's the Cowboys that have the leverage. If they clean up their act then those millions will come sooner or later. However, if they mess up, hit the road! They know that the Cowboys won't cut a 2nd round draft pick.
