Michael Mayer, Notre Dame, 2023 NFL draft

He has Amari Cooper feet in a Jake Ferguson body. His change of direction in route running is top notch for a player that size.
That's who I had in mind. I wanted Kyle Pitts very bad last year. But Parsons was a great consolation prize. LOL

Hahaha Jarwin is always hurt! This team didn't even know schultz was better. That worries me about these idiots coaching and managing the team.

I know! They didn’t even know dak was better until tony got hurt.

:p:p

You're right. My post was primarily to be humorous, poking fun at out UDFA gems and 2nd round fails. But you're right overall. I wish Jerry would change his fixation of injured/baggage great college players from the 2nd round and just look for those in UDFAs.

Hendershot is a perfect example. With his rap sheet I would have been skeptical and irritated we spent a draft pick on him. No draft capital means minimum risk. So we need more Hendershots and less Kelvin Joseph and Josh Ball.

Kelvin Joseph was in for 1 meaningful play on monday and got a 15 yard facemask penalty against him to keep the Giants drive going in their attempted comeback, 2nd round pick. Hendershot caught passes and moved the chains and helped us score points, UDFA. Someone please Jerry to listen to the "except he..." comments and then shoot for those guys in UDFA.

HIs rap sheet is criminal trespassing.

That's not even really a rap sheet, unless someone is just being a busy body.

Just silly.

He also had two bad penalties and failed to stay in bounds at the end of the game when we needed him to.

Like the kid thus far, but gotta take the good with the bad.

How come every time you reply to me you almost always have your facts wrong? Like, almost every time.

That wasn't Hendershot that went out of bounds; it was Ferguson.

I really like this kid
He’s more athletic than I expected and he plays with a bit of attitude
We’ve had success developing TE’s and this scheme is TE friendly but he’s a guy I think you can use down the seam some

One of the board jokers was telling me after the Bucs game that Hendershot couldn't make an impact because of his speed.

I haven't seen that person lately....

Hendershot needs to cool it with the jumping/leaping. It's ok once and a while but it does lead to fumbles. When a player leaps like that it tends to get the arm away from the body to secure the ball and is easier to punch out hence why there are a lot of fumbles in 1 yard situations when a player leaps/dives.

Wow, some of you aren't even watching the games or something. You're the third person who has blamed that play from Ferguson on Hendershot. It wasn't even him.. Why is this?

I think I know why some aren't willing to give him a chance or want to blame him for something he wasn't even involved in.

And I think it's petty.

I seen it in pre season
Not necessarily fast but quick
He ran a 4.8 so he’s slower than Witten was but he has some quickness

  • Hendershot:
    • Had a very good 10-yard time: 1.55 (same as Kyle Pitts)
    • Very good 3-cone: 6.91 (7.12 for Pitts)
    • Good Vert: 35-1/2" (33-1/2" for Pitts)
    • Good bench reps: 23 (same as Gronk)

Watching him even in limited snaps, you see the short area quickness and agility. Getting him in the open field vs. a LB, he will be able to make that first defender miss more times than not.

I just seen his 40 but from watching him he looked quick and that shows it
For a TE who’s working the middle quickness is more important than long speed
I like this kid and he has a chance to develop into a solid player

I figured you would be one of the ones who knew, since you probably know more about players in the draft collectively than I. After I sat on our UDFAs for a couple weeks and really analyzed them, Malik Davis, Peyton Hendershot, Aaron Shampklin, and Ball were my top four prospects overall. I liked a lot of our WRs, but I could see the four of them had higher ceilings. There were a couple DBs that could have made another team that wasn't so stacked defensively. To be fair, I also liked Roberson, even Storey Jackson and Fryfogle. But I thought Hendershot was the most talented of all of the UDFAs.

Easy to be snarky, but I'll take a solid UDFA who can contribute on offense and add a unique skillset for an UDFA.

Also, to add to what you're saying. He had around three times as many receiving yards during his senior year in college, and probably 25 percent more than Schultz. His tape against Penn State looked really good, if anyone cared to look at it (few do).

Anyway, as always, nice chatting, x.

And I'm going to tell you right now. He's just getting started.

This guy has NFL talent. And he's going to be a surprise at the end of the year, and later on in his career people will never know he was an UDFA.

Guy has sure hands. And after those three drops by Lamb and Brown, they went to Hendershot who catches everything.

After that, the rest of the team started getting their act together.

It was nice to see from our rookies out there. Ferguson, too.
as it looks today, the one thing cowboys did right in off season is not to give schultz a long term contract and hedge their bets with tagging him and see if they can find his replacement in the draft. If Hendershot and Ferguson continue as they are, we may have found our TEs and thus Schultz will walk, which is fine for us.
