Absolutely agree.

Besides, what message does that send to a player when you draft them in the 2nd round while knowing they have issues? In effect, isn't Jerry telling them that their issues are acceptable, not that big a deal? You are still going to pay them millions of dollars.

If they are UDFA then it's the Cowboys that have the leverage. If they clean up their act then those millions will come sooner or later. However, if they mess up, hit the road! They know that the Cowboys won't cut a 2nd round draft pick.
Exactly, they have no incentive to work hard or clean up their act if they already got paid. I'd take players like Hendershot over players like Ball and KJ everyday.

Hendershot reminds me of a healthy Jarwin athletically. He's got good hands too, I don't doubt that he can do more in the passing game than Dalton Schultz. It will all come down to consistency.

Hendershot reminds me of a Mark Chmura kind of player. Fast enough, physical enough, great hands and plays with swagger.

He and Jake make a fine TE tandem. Looks like Schultz is going to be wearing different colors next year. Ought bring in a nice comp pick. The scouts are the real heroes of this team.

That wasn’t him that went out of bounds

I don't mind him much; I've learned he only watches one thing: Tony Pollard.

Other than that, guy is pretty much a clueless blowhard.

He also had 2 bad penalties

Sure, but remember. These guys are just kids. They have to gain some experience. He did so, made some mistakes, but also helped the team. That's all you can ask. You can clean up the other stuff.

TE like Schultz aren’t a dime a dozen and that’s why he’s gonna get a big contract
He was a top 5 TE in production last year
I wouldn’t sign him to a second contract because you have options but that doesn’t mean he’s a dime a dozen player or everyone would have his production

He may be signed, but they'll let him test the market next year and tag someone else, like Wilson or Pollard.

Fine with me, I haven't been a big fan of Shultz and Jarwin before him. Blocking skill means a ton for our offense and we have been weak at TE in terms of blocking for a while now.

Schultz is still better but no way he gets something long term. Never been a fan of his and honestly If Jarwin never got hurt he probably would’ve been gone.
Hahaha Jarwin is always hurt! This team didn't even know schultz was better. That worries me about these idiots coaching and managing the team.

I don’t know man I hate to sell the guy shirt because he was productive last season but I’ll be honest…..I’m no scout but I see higher ceilings with Hendershot and Ferguson. They are two different tight ends that both offer things Schultz doesn’t. Schultz was great on a rookie deal but let him walk and get a nice comp pick for him.

I agree
Ideally that’s the plan for most players
You have a guy waiting to replace them and you move on. The exception is hard to replace positions and very elite players

Yeah, you tag the guy where you can't afford to lose depth. I personally think it would be at safety. Because we have guys like Shampklin, Davis, Dowdle. Then again, RB makes the most sense because it could potentially cost us more.

And I'm going to tell you right now. He's just getting started.

This guy has NFL talent. And he's going to be a surprise at the end of the year, and later on in his career people will never know he was an UDFA.

Guy has sure hands. And after those three drops by Lamb and Brown, they went to Hendershot who catches everything.

After that, the rest of the team started getting their act together.

It was nice to see from our rookies out there. Ferguson, too.
We have 2 talented rookie te’s who actually take pride in their blocking and do it well.

Yes, and at least one of them, I actually suspect both, is a passing threat.

If they can manage to game plan around Hendershot, he's very sure-handed and despite lacking elite speed, knows how to get open.

In college, he dropped 1 pass out of like 61 targets. He's as sure-handed as it gets, which is why they went to him when they needed a catch.

Jerry has zero to do with scouting and evaluating talent and determining who the real players are. Stephen even less.

However, he is responsible for making strategical decisions once he's been told what to think of players by the actual experts that know. Jerry is the guy that likes to get cute with the 2nd round picks. he likes to draft physical "freaks" like Bruce Carter. He likes the broken college stars that could have been a great player were it not for devastating injury. He likes the players with baggage. They would have been a 1st round pick, except for.....

Jerry never considers that the "except for...." is a red flag that may not come to fruition every time, but enough times to were intelligent GM's stay away.
That must be the old wildcatter in Jerry. Hoping not to drill a dry hole in a metaphoric way of speaking.

I like Schultz and he's had his moments. I just don't think the team needed to use the franchise tag on him. On paper, his receiving stats look pretty good. Just can't help wonder how much of that had to do with Coop, Lamb, Gallup, Zeke, and Pollard demanding the focus of opposing defenses.

Exactly. Let Jerry gamble in the 5th or 6th round all he wants. If he had picked Jaylon in the 5th and got what we got out of him? Everyone would think he's the genius he thinks he is.

I agree, the throw should have been more inside.

But Rush gets rid of the ball so quickly that he may have seen something in coverage that required him him to throw it like that.

I'm sure Hendershot was kicking himself for leaping toward sideline instead of just going down.

He was trying hard to gain as many yards as possible instead of milking clock.

He's a rook, he'll improve on this.
BUT if he gets the first Game OVER.. that not a rook ,saw far worse from actual vets.. he leaped got pushed out, not ran out. huge difference.

Nope, I totally disagree with your ignorant assessment! We the Boys huddled up, Rush should have reminded everyone to stay in bounds if a first down isn't in reach. Yeah, this rook wanted to be a hero, but could have ended up being a zero..........................
wrong..next

3 games and no tds for the te core. About like I expected. Lol. This 3-5 td a year te core is a bunch of jags. Our offense is doomed with jag skilled players at te as always
