Peppers / Packers agree on a 3 year deal

It is more than we can afford.

We are doing whatever we want in free agency.

When one team (Packers) enters March $25m under the cap and the other team (Cowboys) enters March $25m over the cap that's a gigantic delta of $50m between the two teams.

"More than we can afford" becomes a very relative statement.

And that is the problem. If this continues, and it appears to be the case, then we will be desperate in the draft and will make some idiotic reaches and force picks.

I would hope the top of the draft is deep enough, and management is up to targeting two players who will be starters, one possibly a star early.

Which free agent defensive end do you suggest we look at? Because a former first round pick who if could turn it on at age 28 and give us 3 years at a decent price seems about right.

Ayers is a really good modest cost DE that won't block the development of a draft pick.....And a rotation is needed for most of the year one 4-3 rookie DEs other than Clowney.

Way more money than the Cowboys should have commited so im not dissapointed they didnt sign peppers. I was thinking half that would have been acceptable.

He has really grown on me the last few days rotation, rotation, rotation......plus I could see him getting snaps at 3tech

He is "modest cost", possibly. I would not call him "good".

Peppers was pretty bad last year, amazing how people are now lamenting missing on an aging vet who is pretty much at the very downside of what was once a massive peak.
I would rather the team spend on Melton, Carrington and/or Wooten myself. Any combo of those two would probably come at a similar price and help the team more in the long run.

Do you have another modest cost FA DE in mind that would be a better rotation guy than him? I am open to any guy that can take 50% of the snaps this year and let a rookie grow into the full time role.

Carrington is the other I would look at besides Ayers. Why did Pitt let him leave? I'd like to think they invited him over because he fit the 3-4 scheme. I could only imagine it had to be money!
