Peppers / Packers agree on a 3 year deal

But what will he play in GB? DE? That is a lot of money to pay a guy just to be a run plugger, which is all he'll be as a 34 DE. Not to mention that I'm not sure how good he'd be in that capacity. OLB? Good Lord, I hope not. His movement skills are bad enough for DE, much less OLB.

Oh well... I'm sure they have a plan.

Packers have invested MIGHTILY in the DL/OLB position and isn't hasn't really hasn't panned out for them. This is a rare move for them -- attempting to band-aid the line via Free Agency instead of the draft. I guess your when record falls to 8-7-1 you question the draft only approach a bit more than before.

2009 1st Round Raji - NT
2009 1st Round Matthews OLB
2010 2nd Round - Mike Neil DE
2012 1st Round - Nick Perry OLB
2013 1st Round - Datone Jones DE

That's four 1st round picks a 2nd round pick in the past 5 years on 3-4 DL/OLBs, yet their defense continues to be putrid.

Peppers was pretty bad last year, amazing how people are now lamenting missing on an aging vet who is pretty much at the very downside of what was once a massive peak.
I would rather the team spend on Melton, Carrington and/or Wooten myself. Any combo of those two would probably come at a similar price and help the team more in the long run.

i haven't actually seen a lot of rueage. Most people agree that at that price he isn't worth it. All the rueage is primarily directed at our cap situation, not necessarily missing out on Peppers at 10 mill a year.

All this excitement over the team indicating that they're "interested" is kinda comical. Let's say I'm "interested" in Sophia Vergara. Does that mean we might be wed? What do you think my chances are? (Hey, after all, I've got a couple thousand $ in the bank.)

I think Capers' concepts have gotten stale honestly.

All the exotic blitzes are great when you have an all-pro safety like Nick Collins and a Charles Woodson playing a Defense Player of the Year level, however, when you remove those guys the fundamentally unsound defense falls apart and is gashed by big plays.

Good for him...

Bringing him in wouldn't have made sense with the direction the team seems to be going. They obviously are rebuilding the defensive line from scratch and if they are going to do so they might as well go all out. With his age Peppers just didn't fit.

I am hoping agents are simply using Dallas as they always have. If that is not the case, then Jerry and co. either have no feel for the market or they think an older and equally as expensive version of Ware with declining production has some sort of value to this team that Ware did not. I wish the stench of this operation would just blow away but unfortunately it's illuminated by free agency and draft activities.

I wish they would ignore free agency until the draft is finished. I wish they would draft O and D lineman with their first 3-4 draft picks unless they see a franchise QB in the haul. I wish they would ignore safety, WR and TE in the draft. I wish everyone would stop themselves for a moment before they worry about having to replace Miles' departure. The best teams: NE, Denver, Seattle, SF, Cinc, Phi, GB, Balt all are no better off than the Cowboys at WR with Dallas' current WR roster. It's about trench warfare in my opinion.

Wow, yesterday he was the second coming. Pretty interesting how the tone changes so quickly when players go else where. Now if the Melton guy goes somewhere else, you'll hear, we didn't want him anyways. So cool.

Yesterday he was the second coming.

Wow talk about hyperbole.

So cool.

Peppers is not a huge financial investment for #Packers when you consider only $7.5M Is guaranteed. At 34, may be a one-year experiment.

I think they had to make a big splash even if it meant over paying just to quieten the fans/owners a little bit. It's become painfully obvious that their drafting the last few years is showing up in their inability to stop the run or do anything else when Rogers isn't in.

I'm guessing you didn't read the "Cowboys interested in Peppers" thread? Not talking about you particularly, but the sentiment of the thread was overwhelmingly that people wanted him.

Agree.....Never liked the idea of Peppers. Thought the whole process of getting rid of Ware was to get younger. signing Peppers would have been a panic move.

WOW.....Agent Carl Carey says it's a three-year deal that can be worth $30M. Peppers gets $8.5M in Year 1

Its been said that a fool and his money soon depart. Apparently Dan Snyder isnt the only fool in the NFL.

Zero, zip, nada, ling. Your nose is way too big. :)

Yes I read it and nowhere did I see the majority say he was the second coming.
