News: Per Eatman: Josh Brent placed on Retired/Reserved List

I love being a Cowboys fan. It's such a roller coaster.

On that note, I didn't see this move coming.

Mind boggling to me that they absolutely refuse to draft. This could hurts if he doesn't play at all.

So it's McClain, Bishop, Hayden, and Whaley as our rotation after Crawford? That's pretty scary if you ask me. Hopefully someone gets cut June 1st that we can use.

If Jerry was going to spend next years first round draft pick, this is the real need area.

Unfortunately we don't seem to value this position much at all. Hope I'm wrong though.

Nick freaking Hayden, this guy will not be able to take on double teams, heck he gets pushed around by a single guy.

Isn't Whaley more of a 3T? I don't actually know, just something I seem to recall.

He is. A Henry Melton type. McClain and Hayden are the 1-techs at this point.

Once they re-signed Hayden I figured they didn't have much confidence in Brent. He is physically better than Hayden, but who knows if he would be in shape or stay out of trouble.

I didn't want to lose Bishop anyway and it would be hard to keep Hayden, Brent and Bishop. They gave Hayden 200K guaranteed so I figured that he was staying, especially considering that Marinelli has some sick infatuation with him.

I'm almost 100% sure it's a relapse. I can't imagine Brent deciding to retire after all of this hard work he's put in. I'm thinking he popped dirty at probation.

Poor guy. I like him. Hope he gets his ish together.

If this is what happened wouldn't they just cut him? What's up with putting him on this list?

Still don't get all the hate that Hayden gets. He has been on the team and healthy for the past 2 years. At least he has been consistent, and has not cost us any games.
I was not impressed with Brent before his incident, nor was impressed with him when he returned last year.
now he needed to get back into shape and all that. But I was still not impressed.

I was willing to give him a chance at returning, and would have supported that this year too. But this does not worry me any for depth wise. It probably secures a spot for Hayden too some fans dismay.
Also opens the door for Whaley, who I think would end up being better anyway.

There are players with some versatility on the roster that can slide over and play inside as well.

FO and coaches were aware of this possibility. Brent was considered gravy if he was able to contribute.

They must also know something about the remaining personnel that I don't, though, because this does seem to leave a hole with no draft pick or FA to fill it.
