If this is what happened wouldn't they just cut him? What's up with putting him on this list?

Perhaps they don't want to give up on their investment so quickly. This retains his rights while keeping a roster spot open. Maybe if this is what happened (and again, just speculating), they are waiting for him to successfully complete a rehab program or something before bringing him back to the roster.

his friend wasn't murdered

Legal definition no. He killed his friend though because of his actions despite prior DUIs. That's how bad of an alcoholic he is. I say that with no righteousness just a fact.

Brent is an alcoholic who also has to live with his friend's murder.

Football can't overcome that.

I will hope and pray for him but not every story has a happy ending.

Cautionary tale.

A little bit harsh there...what's with the holier than thou attitude.

It bears repeating that we ranked 31st in rushing TD allowed last year.

And yet we didn't draft a DT this year,I am not a fan of Marinellis thinking that you just need a JAG at 1 tech, its a fatal flaw in his system.

Always hope guys play 10-15 games active roster in a couple of seasons if not in their career and make $400,000 or so for their trouble getting chronic knees etc .. Hell I would crawl on belly like reptile for the second season and push it up to almost $1 million minimum salary total for 2 seasons on the 53-man. .. Guys at the minicamp this weekend would DIE to even be on a practice squad for a couple of years - that's maybe $110K a year now? ... (Starting pay in the Canadian F League I think is maybe 40K a year)

Then retire to Lake Tawakoni, get a nice trailer, live in perpetuity there. Get satellite TV and drink beer. .. I could live for a mil or even $400K somewhere on a budget. Watch Larry the Cable Guy show.

I'm interested in Brandon Bridge the QB this weekend. ... Said to be the strongest arm to come out since Flacco. (I didn't know Flacco had the strongest arm) ... Brandon Bridge has a fantastic touch vertical on the deep ball (have you watched his vids?) but otherwise his passes are wild.

Yours in strong-arminess ...

No way he pulled a McClain and just decided he didn't want to play anymore.

I would agree with others that he probably had a relapse of some sort. It must be hard as hell waking up everyday knowing what he did, maybe he just couldn't take it anymore and turned back to alcohol for relief from the guilt, if only for a little while

Still don't get all the hate that Hayden gets. He has been on the team and healthy for the past 2 years. At least he has been consistent, and has not cost us any games.
I was not impressed with Brent before his incident, nor was impressed with him when he returned last year.
now he needed to get back into shape and all that. But I was still not impressed.

I was willing to give him a chance at returning, and would have supported that this year too. But this does not worry me any for depth wise. It probably secures a spot for Hayden too some fans dismay.
Also opens the door for Whaley, who I think would end up being better anyway.

There are players with some versatility on the roster that can slide over and play inside as well.

He has a pulse and shows up. Yay for Hayden!! The guy is a pure 1 tech with 0 pass rush ability. The only problem is that he also happens to suck against the run and continuously gets blown 5 yards back. Counting on him and McClain to play a big portion of the snaps is a huge mistake.

By that rational you could say Brown committed suicide by getting in the car.

What rationale? I stated a fact. He admits it himself and went to jail for it. Why in the world do people bristle at hearing that? It's sad - there is no self righteousness. Y'all ever been to AA or any addiction recovery group? People don't get better with "don't be harsh" or downplaying the consequences of their actions. I like how me saying I'm hoping and praying for him gets ignored. There's love and there's phony i'm ok you're ok.
