Jerry Gray was the minority interview. Zorn apparently was ticked off that it happened sometime during week 16. Gray was the DC in Buffalo for a little while and was considered for HC before Jauron came in.

I like Shanny, he brings discipline. I'm a little annoyed with the whole thing and that he's in our division. I think Shanny will find his relationship with the owner will be nothing like he had in Denver. He'll have an "OMG why the hell did I agree to this" moment at some point.

Oh Mike Shanahan you will hate this team in 5 years. I guarentee you when NOTHING goes your way in DC, you will soon realize what a clown that Dan Snyder is. This isn't the glory days.

Unless he has a time machine and can bring back John Elway, Terrell Davis, Gary Zimmerman, Tom Nalen, Bill Romanowski, Shannon Sharpe, Rod Smith, Easy Ed, Steve Atwater, and Neil Smith - he's going to struggle just like he did the rest of his career.

Good luck Shanahanahanahan you're gonna need it. Rebuild an o-line, draft and develop a QB, replace Portis, and fix a defense full of me-first high paid egomaniacs.

The skins do now have a vastly better HC then us. I would trade Wade anyday of the week and twice during his 3rd serving of doughnuts for Shanahan.

Shanahan is in a crappy spot now though, I'm stunned he took that wreck of a job there.

Most of us would be stunned to see the amount of zeroes he's seeing on his paycheck on ours. :laugh2:

Why do they even have that stupid rule? If I am an owner and I want SO-AND-SO who happens to be white, will it even make a difference if I interview a black man?

Also, why don't they have a clause that forces owners to interview Asians and Hispanics as well. Honestly, that right there is racism to only force preferential treatment towards blacks and none of the other minority groups.

The rooney rule says nothing about being black. You should be embarrassed by your ignorance here. Also, the rule, while not perfect, does allow some minority candidates names to be thrown in the ring that may not have been thrown in before. Its seen as a joke when its a token interview or phone call like the Commanders did though. There is no rule saying dont go after the guy you want, but check out some qualified minority candidates while doing so. Its all about giving a chance, not guaranteeing a job. Whats your beef with that?

I'm as concerned about their getting Zimmer as anything. Shanahan's one problem is that he's absolutely clueless on defense. If he has a good assistant there, they might be really good.

And with a high draft pick, they can draft a good QB. I hope they don't get Bradford, but they probably can.

I'm not, not in the least.

They have a very poor secondary unless they have some major influx of talent back there.

As for drafting a QB high, please let it be so. None of these guys (Bradford, Claussen, McCo, Tebow etc etc) is going to amount to anything.

Zimmer is under contract as DC of the Bengals. He would have to be head coach if they want him this year.

Supposedly his contract is Cinci is up, and apparently he's already agreed to join Shanahan's staff.

Still I couldnt care less.

That's what the Washington media is saying. I haven't seen a thing on the Bengals boards that has said the Bengals organization has allowed Zimmer to be contacted by Washington for a job offer.

They're in the playoff hunt, and for their DC to be contacted by another team would be big news.

Zimmer would be nuts to go to a franchise that is on it's 7th head coach in what, 12 seasons? Zero job security there. I'd be not surprised to see Mike sign an extension to stay in Cinci. He's the heir apparent to Lewis as the HC in my mind.

Yeah I think it'd be a stupid move on his part as well, so we'll see.

Might be a money thing though. Snyder would throw all sorts of money at him if Shanahan told him too, and the Bengals arnt going to pay big bucks for their assistants.

The Commanders have not been allowed to contact Zimmer, but guess what, Shanahan wasn't a Commander until yesterday

Those 2 have been in contact for months now.

Zimmer will be in DC, Haslett is the backup plan if it falls through

While Zimmer may produce a "good" defense, he will not put one on the field that creates pressure or would be one to fear.

Non-issue to me.

More like the beauty of your sig ;)

I am on the same page as SHF...

No one with a brain is going to predict a quick turn around (I think this is going to be my standard post here for at least the next two years). I am not predicting anything.

I do however, have some hope. Hope that Snyder is FINALLY backing off of things.

We shall see...

Zimmer cannot do it without talent.

I think Shanahan has a proven track record of being a very very poor judge of defensive talent.

Outside of Elvis Dumervil, D.J. Williams, the late Darrent Williams, Trevor Pryce and Al Wilson, you would be hard pressed to find any defensive talent he had a hand in drafting or coaching that was much more than average. Even his Super Bowl team defenses were cobbled together out of talent that was readily available. And we have all seen what Snyder does in free agency.

One of the reasons I was okay with him coming to Dallas was that we already had the defense in good shape for the immediate future. He has a massive retooling project on that side of the football in Washington and if his past history is an indicator, buckle up Commander fans.
