He does throw a pretty arching pass. Even if he's throwing it into coverage.

I guess I don't see a lot of what you're seeing. He's great at making plays with the ball in his hands in space. He's obviously a bright guy and a feel-good story. He didn't win that first Superbowl, though, let's be real.

The last two games he's been a guy who won't take the open check down pass--even ones that will move the chains--when he's too busy looking down the field. He's thrown into tight coverage where the CB has inside leverage down field way too many times, and has been lucky that his WRs have been able to bail him out. He doesn't have great touch over the middle. If he has to lob a ball into intermediate coverage, it hangs in the air forever. He's great rolling out. He's great at taking the yardage the defense gives him if the downfield WR is covered and he's not in the pocket. He get's bailed out a ton by that amazing defense that keeps games that should be blowouts that put the QB in an impossible situation into manageable 7-point deficits. And he's got a head coach and an OC and a seemingly inexhaustible line in the media willing to make excuses for him when he has a truly awful game or string of games. Do you remember a lot of blowback for throwing 4 picks to one player in an NFCCG? Not all of those picks were on the QB, but a couple of them were just really stupid decisions. And the coverage of it during the game, even, was really really subdued.

I'm not trying to knock the guy, because I think he does a good job of doing what's expected of him to do. But he's nowhere near an elite QB in my book, and there's no way I'd pay him elite money.

Fair enough. I wasn't trying to hype him as if I'm making the argument for him. I think that's why he gets a pass. The Seahawks aren't going to put the game in Wilson's hands like New England lets Brady take control of the game.

That's exactly what I thought after the game: if that's Romo, he is crucified. Happened to Wilson, and it was a horrible play call (which it was).

Or the WR didn't play it right. Give me a break. Bad call. Bad pass. Giant choke. Especially when you factor in they went to a fourth string WR with the best short yardage back in football on the field and timeouts in their back pocket.

Games don't tend to hinge as much on your QB when you have a defense capable of making the other guy's QB look bad. When, instead, you have one of the very worst defenses in the league at doing that, fans for some reason turn on their own outstanding QBs in a hurry. That's what they do, but it doesn't make it right.

Didnt realize Cowboys had the worst defense in the league in 2011.

Plenty of QB have carried bad defenses to playoffs(Indy QB Rodgers)

I dont care what defnse you have, that outstanding qb cant throw back-to-back interceptions(packer game) bad defense is no excuse for that bs

I'm never wrong: 11-5 in april 2014.

Oh, I think you're right as to why he gets the pass. I just don't get it.

They've got a tough decision to make on the guy when it comes to extending him. You're not going to easily find a better replacement, but you're going to have to overpay him significantly for what he's worth, and that in itself makes a statement to some of those defenders who play less important positions overall, but who are the ones who really make that SEA team go.

Not really. I guess it depends how you're measuring bad defenses.

And I don't care how you're measuring it, Romo *is* an outstanding QB. And, yes, outstanding QBs throw multiple picks in games with some regularity. Many of the best of them, though, have the luxury of being able to do it without a defense that gives up points at such a high rate.

We were 19th in the league on a points/defensive series basis in 2011. Not sure how you remember it. 28th in 2010, 26th in 2012, and 30th in 2013. So, you tell me whether or not that qualifies as 'one of the worst in the league' during that recent four year run.

Must be nice not to have any blame or labels placed on you when you make a mistake. If Romo makes that INT we are all talking about Romo and his mistakes. But since its Russell Wilson, noones talking about him, but rather Carroll and the play call. I guess the 50+ pass calling plays that he used to have to throw in years past puts tremendous pressure on Romo to succeed or else.

yep, Romo would have been crucified. No one I have read has claimed Wilscum made a bad throw

It kind of shocks me. I don't see what everybody else sees in Wilson. I see a capable guy who's got a good, positive personality and the best situation in football. But he's been a liability the last two games. And it's a mistake to pay him a mega-deal, too. That SEA team wins because of it's defense, and specifically because of it's secondary. It's bizarre to me that that somehow buys the QB a mulligan or three when it comes to evaluating his play in these big games.

He gets a pass completely, it is disgusting

Same with that pass play. It happens. I can hear Cowboy Nation in my sleep "why aren't we running the ball from the one?".

Romo got the "choker" label way before he ever deserved it (and he still doesn't). In other words, it was unwarranted and imposed on him, and the media perpetually ran with it as propaganda. The media self-reinforces its own image just because it can.

It takes someone crazy to compare Romo's situation to Russell's......the guy is a 3rd year quarterback and is a Super Bowl champion. If Romo was a 3rd year player with a ring i'm sure his perception would be a lot different.

Take it from me: the cowboys should've won 11 games in 2011. Romo is the reason we didn't.

Eli's defense in 2011?

Brady didn't win yesterdays either but that's all the talk. QBs win and lose no matter what. Last I saw Brady looked disgusted on the sideline then was holding the SB MVP. That DB was ripped off in my book because of the QB.

It already happen in GB. 4th and 2... why is Romo throwing to Dez for the catch no catch when we have the NFL offensive player of the year as our RB? Demarco gets 2 yards in his sleep 9 times out of 10. So why did that play become a do or die pass? It's just nightmarish.

Take it from me: the cowboys should've won 11 games in 2011. Romo is the reason we didn't.

I'll pass on taking any opinion related to Romo from you.
That is beyond absurd.

The player, who in 2011, had:
31 TDs, 10 ints
102 QB rating and
4200 passing yards

yeah, that's why we only won 8 vs 11.
How about, maybe that's why we won 8 instead of 4 or 5?

Even further mind-boggling irony.
if I'm not mistaken, I think you just picked the season he played many games with broken ribs and/or a punctured lung.

You guys are embarrassing.

Wilson was not impressive at all in this game. He was throwing a lot of jump balls hoping his guy makes a play for him. The Lockett catch was amazing catch but he was well covered with safety help.

You keep Wilson in the pocket and takes away the run you have a good chance to beat him.

How many of the Seahawks games have turned on a Wilson interception?

I can think of a few with Romo.

2010
Titans 17-17 middle 3rd tries to force 1 to bennett in back of the end zone. Bennett was shaded by 3 Titans

2011
Jets
lions

2013
Broncos
Packers

A few I remember off top. He singlehandidly prevented us from making the playoffs in 2011. Him and Garrett Icing his own kicker.

Change Romo's play caller and we go 12-4... Notice how he didn't force much when he was given more control in the offense.

Well it WAS a bad playcall and bad execution by Wilson, Lockette, and Kearse. Overall, I thought Wilson played a good game last night. Took what the defense gave him
